What's your "peasant fodder"

Aragon · 01/08/2005 19:36

By peasant fodder I mean the stuff that takes very little in the way of preparation and is yummy. It should also lack a certain finesse.

I've just had mine and it's grated cheese and egg salad with mash potato served with generous amounts of salad cream. Mash potato and salad cream - (Homer Simpson like Mmmmmmmmmmmm!)

Mashed potato with lots of salt and butter, smothered in baked beans.

Or a mashed potato and tomato sauce sandwich if I'm really being peasantish.

melted cheese on pitta bread with lime pickle - utterly mad for it. Could live on it. Infact pretty much do.

Did anyone else eat mash sarnies? Thick sliced bread, lots of butter, nice healthy dollop of steaming hot mashed potato!!! Beginning to think I am a peasant!!

Hubby does mash sarnies - even better when he adds fish fingers and some "dead horse" (tomato sauce) to the mixture.

Sotvies Expat! Michty Me! I hinna heard ay them in years.
Brings back memories. I used to love them.

I don't eat meat now but have similar to WWB and Trefusus. Veg matter cooked and mashed to bits with potatoes and cheese. Probably olive oil or butter as well, if I'm honest.

Sausage, mash and baked beans is another goodie. If I'm feeling really energetic then I do fried onions on the side - "fried" onions not the pncy "pan-fried" onions.
