Have you tried Aldi/lidl?

Asdo, tesco, sainsbo - all sell their own brand vodka quite cheaply, just get a small bottle

Try Sainsburys own brand, its just as good as Smirnoff

Tesco value is ok. the one with the stripey blue label.

I just feel people judge when they see me buying it

We drink Asda smart price, apparently its made by smirnoff as its one of few that are triple distilled.

It's £6.50 a bottle or something but doesnt give you a hangover like some cheap stuff LOL.

HOM, I am intending to make Christmas Pudding Vodka soon:
1 litre vodka
4 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
peel of 1 orange and 1 lemon
25g each currants, raisins, dried figs(halved if large)

Combine all ingredients in large bowl or jug, then decant into large (they recommend 1.3 litre) sterilised (dishwasher okay) bottle. Seal with cork or screw cap.

Leave for at least 2 weeks in a dark place, shaking occasionally to agitate the ingredients, then use a funnel lined with a coffee filter paper to decant into "pretty sterilised bottles of your choice" (but no info on where to get them!) - add a fresh piece of lemon and orange peel and a fresh cinnamon stick if you like.

With thanks to Bramshott for the recipe

Just as above - batter butterscotch pop in bottle, leave for 2 weeks, shaking every few days. Decant through a filter and drink !!

I drunk a few inches of the plain vodka and added my BS to bottle rather tahn pour it into another container. If in a rush put BS in bottle, seal and stick on top shelf of dishwasher for a wash cycle then decant as before ......

I used a full pack of BS to 3/4 of a bottle of vodka ....

If you like gin, Sainsburys Basics is six quid a bottle and raspberry or lemon gin is lovely.

thehouseofmirth · 11/10/2008 18:41

Ooh, how do you do lemon gin?

themoon666 · 12/10/2008 16:06

LOL at nappyaddict.

If you drink 'a lot' of any vodka you get a blackout.

Horton · 12/10/2008 17:14

Lemon gin is really easy - just peel off a couple of curls of lemon peel and pop them in the bottle and leave for a month or two. You can also add sugar. A little is quite nice, lots makes it more of a liqueur. Lime and orange are also nice.

moon - i've drank the same amount and more of smirnoff and never had a blackout before. was definitely something to do with being cheap nasty tesco value vodka.
