There isn't a book to go with the series is there??? How unusual!

Only joking - I like Jamies' books - I shall look out for it smile

pinkblossom Wed 15-Oct-08 12:10:37

Yes it does have the chicken bashing recipe in!! Made it last week - totally scrummy!

I really like the book. Very easy, simple recipes.

Divvy Wed 15-Oct-08 12:11:39

I will have to buy it then!

bundle Wed 15-Oct-08 12:12:35

ooo sounds interesting!

<puts it on Christmas pressie list>

bundle Wed 15-Oct-08 12:43:14

fio JO always does a book, with every series hmm

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump Wed 15-Oct-08 12:48:22

tbh, bundle, it's not just JO - all cooks do a book to go with any tv series, I suspect.

SpandexIsMyEnemy Wed 15-Oct-08 12:49:30

are the recipes quick n easy?

wotnopulling Wed 15-Oct-08 12:50:31

what's in it? i assumed all pass it on recipes on website as that's kind of the point isn't it?

but maybe i'm being optimistic. quite fancied the stir fry they did last night.

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump Wed 15-Oct-08 12:53:13

On his website, there's a recipes section, which says that the following recipes are similar to the ones featured in my upcoming Ministry of Food cookbook (similar to?hmm)

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump Wed 15-Oct-08 12:55:06

Ah recipes here, I think

wotnopulling Wed 15-Oct-08 12:58:10

"pass it on recipes"

bundle Wed 15-Oct-08 13:04:22

yesss jackie, but people often talk about him like he's some kind of saint. which he's not

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump Wed 15-Oct-08 13:06:35

True, bundle (sorry - my comment to you sounded a bit harsh, and it wasn't meant that way: I think I actually meant to type 'to be fair', but it came out as tbh, because my fingers just took overblush).

bundle Wed 15-Oct-08 13:08:51

smile jackie

i agree, the book is prob part of the deal their agents do
i wonder if jamie is donating the proceeds of his to setting up the ministries of food/training courses? (like i think he did with Fifteen)

my favourite cookery books atm are sarah raven's garden cookbook and tamasin day lewis' kitchen bible - neither v tv-ish

also bought ottolenghi - must try something smile

wotnopulling Wed 15-Oct-08 13:16:44

he is clearly a workaholic and ruthless in his pursuit of success (and money) but i think he is genuine in his desire to change things for the better. what are other chefs doing? (tho hugh f-w has a conscience i think)
so too complicated and irritating to be a saint - tho i quite like him for that.
and suspect most saints pretty annoying to be around...

Blackduck Wed 15-Oct-08 13:18:29

Oh LOVE Sarah Raven....When I'm staring at my veg box in dismay I reach for her for inspiration! Kale and Chickpea curry anyone??

Divvy Wed 15-Oct-08 13:37:00

Those links dont have the bashing chicken recipe though sad I really feel like bashing a chicken right now too!

JackieNoHeadJustABloodyStump Wed 15-Oct-08 13:41:40

Isn't this the bashing chicken one?
