Should I beat my husband's meat? <ahem>

Got some steak for his dinner.

Do I need to beat it or something? I never usually cook it

Right, am at work at the mo but it will have 2 hours from me getting home to being chucked in the pan - will that be enough do you think?

yep beating it tenderises it, and it really depends on what vut of meat it is whether or not it needs tenderising before frying.

I'd give it a good beat, it is highly theraputic

Thanks to OMDB and Carmen I did the beating thing too, just last night in fact. Highly therapeutic and worked a treat. A good beating and a quick flash in the pan. The result, a happy dh.

Daft cow.

Do you mean rump, sirloin or fillet? Either of those shouldn't need to be beaten (especially fillet) but they do benefit from being marinated - use either a light vinaigrette or squeeze a lemon over the steak - just make sure that you have dried them off before putting them into a very hot pan.

If you have bought 'frying' or 'minute' steak you shouldn't have bothered then you might need to beat them.

But bear in mind that beating then will also flatten them, make them thinner and they will cook very quickly, so if he likes a rare steak very short cooking will be required.

I threw the packaging away because there were 4 in a pack and I froze two and left the other 2 in the fridge to cook tonight.

I won't beat it then. Just do the lemon thing.
