What are all your food cupboard staples? What can't you be without? I am wanting to get a bit more into my cooking and need some ideas for handy things to stock.

Many thanks xx

HI Libb - mine would be olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sea salt and black peppercorns, green and black olives, lemons juice, tins of tuna, tomatoes, red kidney beans etc, plus jars of Loyd Grossman cooking sauce and pasta, noodles and rice. Oh and soy sauce and honey. Think they are my basic cooking staples!

Hmm, maybe I am not so out of stock as I thought as I seem to have a few of these things already, I must be lacking in imagination instead!

What about herbs and spices? condiments etc?

I think my actual problem is DP! I would happily use all these things to cook with but he is very stuck in his ways and it is easier feeding my 9 month old!

I am going to go away and rethink my strategy.

Thanks guys!

Always have a variety of tinned pulses as we can make soups out of them. Also, tuna and passata as DH makes a fab dish from tuna, borlotti beans and tomatoes with garlic. Serve with rice, pasta or fresh bread! Yummy.
