Cake recipes-replacing oil with Greek yoghurt anyone?

Has anyone done this? I'm planning on doing This carrot cake recipe and want to replace the oil with Greek yoghurt. I've got loads! I'm a bit nervous about changing the recipe though. I found this advice online but has anyone done it themselves?

Baking With Yogurt Instead of Vegetable Oil
Swap in three-quarters of a cup of yogurt per one cup of oil in baked good recipes, says Aguirre. "Choose plain or flavored yogurts depending on which will best complement the flavors," she recommends. For lower calories, opt for non-fat or reduced-fat yogurt.

That would be 112ml of Greek yoghurt instead of the 150ml of oil specified in the recipe

Would the fat reduction make it crumbly? Would the eggs be enough to hold it together? It's only a little bit.

I think I'll try it.

If anyone finds this thread in the future while looking for an answer, I found this article that says it's fine and I trust good housekeeping so will go for it later

I'd swap yogurt for liquid in a recipe like instead of milk but I think there's a danger the cake won't be moist enough without any fat like oil or butter. I mean you could try it? If it doesn't work make another

Please report back OP! I'm assuming you mean full fat yogurt.

OMG YES! It is gorgeous! VERY moist, couldn't be more so. Utterly delicious, definitely hit the spot, i've been craving it for a week or two. Sadly I undercooked it so had to throw away the centre (I did the toothpick test too Sad) but the outsides were fine and i'd definitely do it again. When I can get my hands on some more eggs and self-raising flour Hmm.

I used low fat Greek Yoghurt by the way and used approximately the same quantity as on the recipe for oil.

Good to hear! Next time pop the slightly undercooked bit in the microwave to finish it off rather than chucking it :)

I didn't know you could do that! How long do you do that for?

I will make it again, just to get it right. For the sake of the recipe of course.

Cake mix cooks quickly in the microwave so for a partially cooked section try 30 seconds and see! One of my teens regularly makes a cake in a cup in the microwave like this http://www.foodnetwork.co.uk/recipes/chocolate-cake-in-a-mug.html?utmsource=foodnetwork.com&utmm_medium=domestic and that says 90 seconds from raw.
