Nigella's is good. Do you have any of her books? If not I could post for you

Easiest biscuits in the world (tart up by adding orange zest, chocolate chips, raisins, cinnamon etc as the fancy takes you)

1oz sugar
2oz butter
3oz flour

cream butter & sugar
stir in flour
knead
roll out
cut out
10min gas 4

OR..if you fancy something more savoury, Nigella also has really really easy recipe for cheese stars in her How to Eat book - she calls them stars but we cut them out in all sorts of shapes!

50g s/r flour
pinch cayenne (have never bothered with this)
25g softened butter
80g finel grated red leicester (but cheddar works)
20g grated parmesan (have left this out sometimes too)

Mix all together in bowl, flour surface, roll out and cut shapes, and bake for 8-10 mins at 200 deg.

Fab for lunch boxes!

From the title of the thread I thought you were askin how to abstain from eating biscuits. I shall go back to my wipes thread.

350g plain flour
1 tspn ground ginger
1tspn cinamon
1tspn bicarb soda
100g butter
175g soft lightbrown sugar
1 egg
4 tablespoons golden syrup

I then add orange zest or anything really to change it, leave out the ginger if you don't want ginger biscuits.

Rub the butter into flour, ginger and soda

Add sugar and stir in the syrup to make a firm dough

Roll to about 5mm thick and cut out (thicker if you like them chewy!)

Bake at 190 degrees for 10 to 15 mins until golden brown

Easy and Yummy!

Oooh Mrs B....what a fab recipe! We put vanilla flavouring in them and iced them with white icing and 100s and 1000s and jelly diamonds.

DS2 (2.5) is very happy.

Now I am going to attempt the brownie recipe!

they're fab, aren't they?

first learnt them as a trendy 20-something when I forgot to make dessert for a dinner party and made them in 20min to go with ice cream from the corner shop!

Well today I was a domestic goddess and made the biscuits and the brownies and DH was gobsmacked!

I also made homemade pork mince burgers which were fab and had makeup on and beautiful hair when DH got home!

If only it was 1950!!

I tried Mrs B's recipe yesterday & seemed to have far too much flour, what did I do wrong?? I ended up adding more butter & they turned out lovely. I used bunny head cutters & stuck jelly tots for eyes & put a smiley mouth on with writing icing then wrapped them in cellothane bags with pretty ribbon am taking them to DD Playgroup Easter fete later. Have got school Easter cake sale tomorrow so want to make more as they really were so easy & tasted nice. Just thought..... should I have softened the butter first? I used it straight from the fridge

If you really creamed butter straight from the fridge you must have v strong arms!
If you leave it out to soften first it'll absorb more flour and you won't have the problem.

we like to do a proper scottish shortbread recipe (butter, flour, cornflour and icing sugar i think - could do quantities if you want).

we have lovely Easter/spring cutters that I keep meaning to use...keep leaving the butter out of the fridge, not getting round to it and putting it back in!

Mrs Badger I creamed the butter with my electric whisk! It was hard work, the butter just kept jumping off the whisks cos it was so hard! I made some more yesterday & I left the butter out of the fridge for a while first.....voila! beautiful easy to cream butter & lovely Easter bunny biccies for schooll today.
Tassis, would love the recipe of your Scottish shortbread please. DC off school for 2 weeks now so I wxpect we will be doing some baking, we like trying new recipes.
