Paul Mckenna is helping my DS eat a healthy breakfast!

DS (5) has been right off cereal for the last 2 years nearly and eats toast, croissants, muffins etc for breakfast.
I've tried to get him interested int he good old porridge, shreddies etc but to no avail.
But then yesterday, I just gave him an Oatibix in a bowl and asked him to close his eyes and pretend it was a bowl of chips. I described the hot chunky chips to him as he ate the first few and then we 'poured some more ketchup over the chips' (really milk over the cereal) and he ate the whole bowl, even scraping out the bits at the bottom with no fuss.
So today we had a different cereal and I descrbied the first few mouthfuls as Grandma's home made fruit cake while he had his eyes closed (DS loves it) and again, he cleared his bowl. We also said his glass of water was Rose wine and that was gulped down although he was laughing and saying we were joking him as it didn't taste like Rose wine .
Anyway, first time he has eaten cereal in 2 years and I'm a happy bunny. So even if the Paul McK techniques dont stop me binging at least they have helped DS eat a healthier breakfast.
Porridge tomorrow me thinks .

Maybe she would eat cereal if she didn't know she would get cake?

Brioche isn't cake! And yes I know it's not great but she does have fruit for breakfast too sometimes. I just can't send to school with nothing inside her tummy.
My dd actually has a reasonable diet and her other meals consist of lots of fruit and veg and a good balance of all the necessary food groups. Breakfast however is a battle for some reason. I now feel even more guilty now you've said that Colditz (it's quite hard with my DH in Afghanistan for 6 motnhs, a 2 year old who refuses to eat nearly everything, my dd who has a problem with chronic constipation (nothing to do with brioche I hasten to add) and me drinking only 3 shakes a day on the Camrbidge diet)! Sorry about the rant but I only popped on earlier to say what a good idea McKenzie's was. I actually tried it tonight when DD pretended her fish pie (which she was refusing to eat) was chocolate. She ate nearly all of it and told me she did like it after all.

Blimey, it would take more than Paul Mackenna and hypnosis to get me to eat Oatibix -have you tried it?

Ok ok ok LucieMule, you speak to a woman whose son tells everyone he has "Scamble Choclit on Toast Every day" as I let him have chocolate spread at week ends. Don't feel guilty because of something I said, of all people. One of our favourite meals is Fray bentos Pie and Chips.

ok cool Colditz - was feeling a bit stressed earlier and feeling bery guilty as I'd eaten the kid's leftovers from tea and shouldn't have been eating anything!
I constantly worry about my kids diets and have HV coming on Friday to help me sort out DS not-eating probs. Hopefully, one day soon it'll click and they'll be eating everything I spend ages cooking for them instead of me having to throw it in the bin!

She's finally chosen to have Coco pop Munchers (they are exactly the same as Choco-Blops she used to eat in Germany)but will only manage a few mouthfuls. Then, this morning she had some carrot sticks as I was chopping some for her packed lunch. Yesterday she had the cereal then a croissant, which at least would fill her up. I might actually take her to docs as she's always complaining she's tired and looks pale etc. Hope she's not anaemic - she does eat her greens and some red meat though. Ho Hum - HV coming soon for DS! Better get on with the tidying so she doesn't think I'm competely crap!
