Wow - go see it, go see it, utterly fabulous.

Given the subject matter I wasn’t expecting to be so thoroughly entertained.

I don’t want to give much away, but is has some incredible acting and a truly surprising few plot twists.

Saw a trailer for it tonight before watching Murder on the Orient Express, and thought it sounded good. Thanks for that!

I saw it today. Bloody brilliant! My type of movie. If you liked the movie Fargo, you should like this. I am sure it is the same female actress in both. And Woody, damn..... what a performance. Best one of his yet.

Totally agree, Woody Harrelaon was excellent, while the main lead was absolutely outstanding.

They showed trailers for this during Pitch Perfect 3...probably weren't meant to but looks interesting. Definitely going to see

I've just seen this. Totally, totally, brilliant!
Best film I've seen in ages. It made me laugh, gasp and cry.
Glad to see it won several awards last night, surely a shoe-in for multiple Oscars. Everyone in the film was great from the actors in the smallest roles to the wonderful Frances.

Agreed -brilliant. And despite the subject matter, didn't expect it to be so funny in places. Every character was flawed but utterly compelling. A rollercoaster. Five stars.

Best film I've seen in a long time. Very bleak story, interspersed with laugh out loud moments. Acting superb.

Absolutely brilliant. So fast paced and unexpected. Brilliant performances. But couple of things really bugged: the character James role was.far too preoccupied with him being a little person. And why was Woody Harrisons wife young enough to be his daughter. Still loved it though.

Snowbelled I've just seen it too and also wondered why they cast the young & beautiful Abbie Cornish (35) as Willoughby's wife (Woody Harrelson is 56). Together with the 19-year-old girlfriend of Mildred's ex-husband, it all felt a bit male fantasy-ish.... or perhaps it was supposed to be a counterpoint in some way to the terrible thing that had happened to Angela?

But all that aside, it was an excellent film. The only scene that jarred a little in tone was the one with the deer.

And I loved how even on the date she was still wearing her overalls!

loved it! But so glad that other posters found the casting of Abbie Cornish wrong, also the young girlfriend. Both totally unsuitable, plus Abbie Cornish's accent was all over the place. Apart from that - a great film. Sam Rockwell is so underused in the film industry.
Thought I'd add this for anyone who might like to see that he's also a great dancer.

I loved it as well. The time just seemed to fly and the film flowed very naturally.

I guess she couldn't have been Woody's age because of the young kids. Perhaps Woody was miscast?!

And the girlfriend was young for the comedy factor, but that was also very uncomfortable. I mean, he obviously wasn't with her for conversation. I loved the scenes with the girlfriend though, she was fab -how they all kept a straight face. I imagined her reading Polo thinking 'gee, where are all the sick kids.?'

I agree that Peter Dinklage was the token dwarf, but his Little Boys room line was hilarious. He was also pretty sleazy too.

And I loved Sam Rockwell lighting his cigarette -you were just waiting for that gag.

The only thing that I wish they hadn't done was have Frances McD say that terrible thing to her daughter. It was so unnecessary I think because what happened to Angela was horrific enough and that was enough of a motivation for Frances's character to hire the billboards etc, but throwing the in your face guilt into the mix was too heavy handed I thought.

SPOILER

*I mean the girlfriend showed up how predatory the dad was. Who also...the billboards. Just saying...

I loved it but it did have a few flaws-the lovey-dovey relationship between Woody and Abbie Cornish wasn't convincing and I agree that it wasn't realistic for the husband to have a stunning 19 year old girlfriend-late twenties would have been better.
Did anyone else think that the actress playing the daughter is the image of Amber Heard?

Saw it tonight.

SPOILERS!!!

It was quite draining I felt - lots of emotional choices made by the characters in a shirt space of time.

Some of it was so funny.

The only one I didn't feel rang true was Dixon's change of character. And getting a black guy to replace Woody was a bit obvious.

I quite liked that someone with cancer was still someone and not a patient or a sick person.

The creepy guy - a nod to the less great behaviours in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Wow though. A lot crammed in.

Very depressing.

Every loathsome male characteristic displayed, racism, sexism, poking fun at the disabled.

God awful
