Star With less than a month to go before the release of Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, MNHQ are brimming with excitement! ^^

To tide us all over until the film's out on 18 December we’d like you to share your Star Wars best and worst bits, whether they're scenes or lines from the films or from your own experience of watching the movies – just what is it about the epic saga that you or your family love?

And just in case you've somehow missed the trailer (or just want to watch it again)

I was only 2 when the original film came out so obviously didn't see it and in those days you had to wait for it to be shown on TV. I remember it being on TV but I was told it was too late for me (and possibly that I was too young to watch) so had to go to bed. The next time it was on TV I was going to be allowed to stay up as a great treat and watch - but an hour before it came on I started throwing up, and had to go to bed. I still remember being in the bathroom being sick while it was on downstairs!

I also remember watching Return of the Jedi on my cousin's new tangled video recorder - they had lived in America so knew about such things. They were so taken by the fact it could fast forward that most of the film went by in a flash of "oh this parts boring, let's fast forward to the Ewoks."

Worst bits: all of episodes 1-3
Best bit:
"Who's scruffy-looking?"

I was 14 when Star Wars came out, on a family holiday to Blackpool with my Mum and Dad and elderly, very religious Grandma. We all went off to the cinema to see it. Pretty soon though Grandma nodded off and woke up in the middle of a scene full of light sabres and explosions and dramatic swooping music. Poor old thing thought she had died and gone to heaven and was about to meet her maker Grin

I think it kind of illustrates though, how very different Star Wars was to anything that had gone before.

Luke looking soulfully into the Tatooine sunset after the row with his uncle. Total pre-teen crush fodder!

Everyone's favourite line surely has to be Han Solo's cool as fuck response to Princess Leia declaring she loves him; that laconic, "I know".

God I've seen the Star Wars films far too many times for a middle aged respectable mum of four.

The very best bit was when Jar Jar Binks came on screen and I boggled at how a whole studio could have thought that putting such a character on screen could ever have been a good idea.

Worst bit: pick a scene, any scene, from Episodes I-III. They're just awful. I'm pretty sure when JJ Abrams hinted that they are no longer canon a million voices suddenly cried out in terror joy Grin

Best bit: it's impossible to pick just one but never fails to give me chills not least because Darth Vader was my first and now longest standing crush

DH and I realised we were perfect for each other over the course of an evening in our local pub. We sat in a booth together for hours talking about pretty much nothing but Star Wars Grin

We will ignore episodes 1-3 (shudder).

Han Solo is my favourite.

Would be unlikely today to have the weird potential incest storyline with Luke and Leia!

I'm of the generation that had a brother obsessed with Star Wars 4, 5 and 6. I now have a 5 year old son obsessed with all things Star Wars. Have they announced the rating of it yet? He really wants to see 7 in the cinema.

Newest best bit has been showing DD and DS episodes IV to VI for the first time and seeing their eyes light up. Has now led to DS (3) stomping round the house singing the Darth Vader music and telling DS she is his stormtrooper...

Darth Vader was a properly scary baddy: I thought he lived in my bathroom at night and would lie in bed desperate for a wee, too scared to go!

DH and his siblings had all the best star wars toys and recently sold them for £££ Envy

Think all the films so far have failed the Bechdel Test. Let's hope the new one has more and better parts for women.

I remember watching Empire on TV and literally dragging my mum down to the Blockbusters down the road to rent Jedi so I could find out what happened to Han Solo! She was unsympathetic and pointed out that she had had to wait years between the films! Fortunately, she didn't make us do the same!

Oops, posted too soon. Weakest parts were probably the prequels, particularly the god-awful romance between Anakin and Padme. Absolutely loved The Clone Wars series and if they could have incorporated more of that into the prequels, they probably would have been a lot better.

We went to see the original at the cinema. My nana was so utterly captivated by the lights, effects etc that she sat through the whole film with a Fry's Cream Bar balanced on the outstretched palm of her hand, mouth agog.

Afterwards we got piping hot chips from the chippy on the corner & ate them on the way home, while my dad and I had pretend light sabre fights.

My dad took my DB and me to see ' The Empire Strikes Back' I was 6 or 7. Horrified when Han was captured and given to Jabba.

I have loved them all ever since and Harrison Ford has been my favourite actor ever since, I adored him as a teenager.

Best bit? Yep ' who's scruffy looking?!' Also, I love the first film, Tattoine and the Jawas and Ben.

42 and mother of 2 girls now and still love them all, maybe partly for nostalgic reasons. Can't wait to see the latest, have persuaded DDs to come with Grin

I remember buying the Widescreen video of Empire from HMV in Newcastle when it came out. The [male] salesperson asked me who it was for and seemed very surprised when I said, 'Me'. I was an early twenty something female, obviously not their regular Star Wars customer base, unless they were buying it for a child. Grin

I also remember my mam taking me and my younger brother to see A New Hope at the Haymarket cinema in Newcastle, I think it must have been over the Easter holidays in 1978 as we didn't get to see it as soon as it came out.

snoop they have said 12a which is why j have such a sad 5 year old - I think being so engrossed in the film in a dark cinema may just be too much with some of the scarier bits. Watching on tv at home is different (though ds hasn't seen revenge of the sith)

Best bits: Anything with Han Solo in! I cried buckets when they froze him in carbonite!

Worst bits: Pretty much everything in Phantom Menace and Attack iof the Clones. They were just a special effects fest! I did quite like Revenge of the Sith, particularly the fight between Anakin and Obi-Wan and all the emotion surrounding Anakin's betrayal.

Best bits:Han Solo, he was my first proper crush. Also how much my DC are loving it all, can't wait for the new one and get excited about all the Star Wars stuff in the shops, it's like I'm reliving my childhood. ^^

Worst: having to sit through episodes 1-3 at DH's insistence that we introduce the DC from the "beginning". Hmm Interesting to get their reaction though: "mummy, I just can't believe it - Anakin is Darth Vadar?!" - not a common sentence uttered by an 8 year old girl, probably. Grin^^
^^
Most of that wasn't that SW specific, sorry, but too many good ones from the originals and too many bad from ep 1-3 to mention anyway.
