hey all!

on my 2nd baby, and this time round im on meds. the doctors have told me to wean my self off. which i really dont want to do as ive tryed before and i think it will be even worse with bein pregnant and with being stressed!
been reading a few things on web that some people have stayed on there medication throughout there pregnany and had no problems!
not sure how far along i am just yet! just really dont know what to do. ive cut down on the meds and already feeling the side effects which isnt good as i have an 19 month old to look after!
i have bad health anxiety and can get depressed at times.
advice from others in the same situation would be great!! thanx

No real advice but wanted to say that I'm sure I've read that people have stayed on citalopram when pregnant? If you're struggling maybe you could go back to the doctor to discuss staying on them? Congratulations on the pregnancy and if you need any online support with the anxiety there's a lovely bunch of ladies on the anxiety club thread

If they want you to wean yourself off have they discussed a plan of action or been through all the pros and cons with you? Have they told you what support they would offer?

Even if you can't take those drugs in pregnancy there are certainly anti-depressants that you can. Not sure about propranol (is it a beta blocker?)

Any medication when pregnant is decided on balance - they have to balance the potential effect on the baby against the effect of the mother not taking it (e.g. extreme anxiety based stress is not good for mother either).

You need a long discussion over this with your doctor and to ask what the alternatives are.
