I've been on antidepressants since December.

I have been to the docs today because I ran out of pills on thursday had an awful w/end.

I have been feeling low for quite a few years, I had several miscarriages and since the birth of my 2ND daughter I have felt much worse, it all came to an head in November last year when I had a serious fallout with my 2 best friends (we are no longer friends) which pushed me further to the edge.

Anyway I did not see my usual doctor today who put me on this medication, the only thing he asked me was am I feeling suicidal (which I am not) I have never thought of hurting myself, and then gave me the prescription.

Would like some advice from anyone who s been on citalopram, I am worrying about how long to stay on them and then coming off them. Any advice please

just bumping for you, I (vaguely) remember being on citalopram but having to change to something else - hopefully someone with more recent and relevant experience of it will be along soon

You need to be on them for 6 months at the least then only come off them after talking it over with GP.
Why do you want to come off them? Are they helping?

But if you feel they are helping don't be in a rush to come off them.

The general rule is you should feel wel lfor at least four months and then discuss with your GP whether it is a good time/idea to come off it - slowly.
