PND/SAD/depression and anxiety...

I have suffered with depression and anxiety since I was 16 although the real issues stem from as early as 5/6 years old.

I have seen my doctor today and he has diagnosed me (not much of a surprise) with PND. My little one is 13 weeks old so about the right time frame for it. I also had it with my DD who is now nearly 3.

I have suffered every year for 12 years with some type of SAD - I become very lethargic, achy, miserable.

Dr has prescribed Lofepramine so that I can continue to bf, he knows I am a passionate bf'er and will not be giving it up without a fight!

I guess I just wanted to say hi and that I will probably be hanging around on here looking for inspiration for a few months

So - Hi

Thanks for the reply

I have a good network of friends who are aware and really helping me. One is an occupational therapist and is going to help me with some mentoring for motivation and setting small goals to help. Unfortunately family are a long way away but that may be a good thing if you know what I mean!!

I started the tablets last night and feel a bit hungover this morning but did wake when little one stirred for his night feed.

My doctor was really good regarding the bf and looked everything up with me there in the room.

I used to be managed on Citalopram but that is one they say to really avoid when bf. I have done a bit more research on bf and lofepramine since yesterday and there is a lot of evidence backing up what my doc said about v low concentration and as little one doesn't feed for 5/6 hours after my dose he shouldn't get much if any drug at all.

I also figure I am more useful to my kids if I can actually function!

I have my hv visiting next week as she is aware of the situation and supported me last time. I am very lucky here as the hv's will happily home visit once a week or more if needed.

Hope you are having a good day
