I have a GP appointment this afternoon. DH, my mum and sister have wanted me to go for a couple of months. DH is off today so I finally phoned up. I know the warning signs having been treated for anxiety and depression on and off for the past 20 years. My sleep patterns are really messed up again and I struggle to leave the house more than once a week. Not good when I have a 2 year old DS and I'm a SAHM. Lucky that DH works shifts so is able to take DS to his activities.
Recently I have had raging mood swings and have made life 'difficult' for DH. I don't want my behaviour to affect DS so I'm admitting today that I need help. I came off ADs over a year ago when we lived in a different area. I had some counselling, felt a lot better. I don't think my GP was totally happy but made it clear I could go back on them any time.
We've now lived here for 10 months and I haven't seen a doctor yet. I'm worried because my appointment is at an emergency surgery so I could see any of the GPs. My sister is with the same practice and has also been on ADs. One of the GPs at the emergency surgery refused to renew her ADs prescription and instead told her to take more exercise. My sister is a size 12-14 so if I get the same GP I dread to think what she will say as I am at least 4st overweight. DH wants to come in with me to tell them why I need to go back on ADs. I'm dreading what he's intending saying especially if I get the GP my sister saw.
Should I cancel and get an appointment next week? Or if I go I don't know what to say. I'm feeling OKish today or I wouldn't have been able to get up and make the phone call.
