They will usually get you to fill in a questionnaire which gives you a score. Then the dr will chat to you, probably over the phone because of covid, and he or she will make a decision about whether you present as depressed. They may prescribe a low dose antidepressant, and/or refer you for talking therapies.

Please don't be afraid to tell the truth about how you feel.
