Mental health

Am an idiot. Run out of my venlafaxine

I have been on 75mg for what seems like years now (been on various doses of it on and off for 18 years) and, to be honest, I am taking it out of habit now as I am perfectly well and I honestly believe it was previous alcohol use that was making me unwell, not so much a mental illness iyswim.
Anyway, went to take my tablet tonight and I have run out. I am convinced I had an extra strip but clearly not. It's Saturday night and I cant see how I can get another prescription until Monday. I'm a bit worried....

Take the box to a pharmacy and beg and grovel, they should be able to give you 2 days worth to tide you over the weekend, pay the usual amount and pick up the rest of the box on Monday when you can get a prescription (don’t worry to much, I’ve been there and it was ok in the end)

I haven't even got the box!! I must have thrown it away and just had the pack. Arghh. I may see how it goes tonight and try to get to OOH in the morning for a proper prescription, but I feel I'll be wasting their time. I actually really want to come off it, so was also thinking shall I just use this as a wty to stop? I don't remember ever having any really bad effects when I stopped before and as my mental health is good now, maybe it'll be ok?

I think you're supposed to wean off slowly, rather than just stopping to avoid withdrawal symptoms.
Ring ooh and explain, we had to do it for dh and they just left a prescription for us at reception. It was just 2 days worth until the gp reopened.

Well that was easy! I just called 111 feeling like a fool and they are going to sort out a prescription for me! I think I'll try to slowly reduce now...

Glad you're sorted, maybe have a chat with your gp about the best way to do it. Dh got good advice and managed to dodge most of the symptoms.
