Do you want to give any more details?
Things always feel worse at this time in the morning. I’ve woken up and had all sorts of small things suddenly seem like massive hurdles, so now I can’t get back to sleep.

I suffered with anxiety, panic attacks and worry. I was on medication for 3 years and got counselling through my dr. Have you been to see your dr? It really helped me.

Something you can do now, download audible and get yourself a good book to listen too. It was the only thing I could do to stop my brain ticking over and get some sleep.

Also know you won't feel like this forever. Seek help and know just asking for help is a step in the right direction. Keep breathing, one min at a time you will get there xx

breathe long exhalations from your tummy, inhale into back of lungs slowly. feel calm as you exhale. relax mouth, tongue jaw, inhale. bring mind to the breath.

Be well.

Hi there OP. I suffer from anxiety, panic attacks. Absolute nightmare. I’m awake but gonna try to drift back off again.

What medication have you been taking Twinkle Merrill if you don’t mind me asking? I was given beta blockers but they didnt touch me and I’m very very unsure about taking a drug that slows my heart down so I have stopped. Any advice appreciated :)

OP- try buying some small things to help; I have just bought lots of little books on calm, meditation from Waterstones ( about £4-5 per book) and there is a magazine called ‘Breathe ‘ which helps too- I buy it in Tesco.

I’ve started taking a herbal remedy from a company called Bach’s Flowers for anxiety which is highly recommended. Bach’s Flowers do sprays, pastilles and night drops for sleep. I find calming Smellies really help. Try lavender water- that’s quite soothing on the skin or spray lightly on a pillow.

Audio podcasts on anxiety on Spotify - audiobooks on anxiety too may help. Try the ‘calm’ app too- I have it on my iPhone ; you have to subscribe but it’s very good .
There are some free apps too for anxiety and ones on meditation.

Chamomile tea is calming- I hate the taste but it does sooth a little.

I hope that helps a bit. My disorder is awful and is ruining my life- so you’re not alone, I promise.

I’m about start cbt therapy which is very good for anxiety and depression so everyone says - so go to the doctor and they can refer you for counselling.

Have a cool glass of water too, I find that just takes off the edge of my panic. Sending you hugs x

Hope you managed to get some rest, if not some sleep and that things feel a little better this morning.

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.

We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website, or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek RL help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

We are going to move this thread to the Mental Health section shortly.
