I’m on a section 2 and so bored. Wondered if anyone else was and fancied a chat about the state of these —prisons— hospitals

I'm at day hospital if that counts...

Do you have anything to keep you busy? When I'm in hospital I do a lot of colouring.

I'm not, though hospitalisation has been mentioned to me which freaks me out/but at the same time I would love to just escape life and wonder if hospital is a bit like safety and escape...or is it just boring!? I have been very avoidant of it though and kept certain info from people because I don't know where my children would go.

Anyway, I am happy to chat with you about the state of MH services more broadly because I have been having the most appalling rubbish treatment and have plenty to rant about! I am also interested in how you are finding it, and hope it is helping and that you are okay @FFSOMG

I don’t feel safe, there is a very unwell woman who is very aggressive and hostile towards patients and staff :(

Not in hospital but not working due to very poor mental health. Been there and never would go again. It is boring in there I know. Where I live there is basically no support groups etc for mental health. I am awaiting first appointment for therapy and I have my meds but I wanted a support group which in my home city there was but here there is nothing! If you feel unsafe you must explain your concerns to the ward staff. Do you feel you should be there or do you feel you would be better treated at home?

I went in voluntarily but once in there I said I wanted to discharge myself. It became clear that I would be put on a temporary section if I tried. Luckily I spoke to the inreach team and told them I felt it was doing more harm than good etc and I got weekend leave. On the Monday I was discharged. I admit I lied about how unwell I was to get out and had to have the crisis team for ages!

That is worrying @FFSOMG - are the staff aware you are concerned? Are others also worried about her and able to raise it with staff too? I can imagine the last thing you (or anyone else on the ward) needs is to worry about safety because of another person's behaviour :(

Not at the moment but have been. Prison is about right - I call all us patients 'inmates' which amuses them but not the staff
I really struggle to cope locked up there for more than a few days. Luckily dh knows how bad it is for me and does the 'nearest relative discharge' which they don't argue with generally as by then I have been somewhat difficult to handle Grin
