When does resting turn into wallowing...?

Am currently off work with stress and today just sat around in pjs watching daytime TV... part of me wonders if I just need to rest, but part of me is also aware of this slipping into low mood and demotivation. I just can't seem to find the energy to do anything :( luckily dh is stepping up and doing the lions share of child wrangling with 2 DC under 6.

Anyone else in this position?

It's not something I've been through but am this close >< to being signed off with stress too and this is one of my worries. Can you set yourself small achievable targets for each day eg a housework item, online shop etc? May make you feel a bit more productive and stop you getting into wallowing.

I was that close >< for a good few weeks ola but finally realised that the organisation doesn't really care and I need to put my family first.

That's the odd thing, I am doing bits and pieces like the washing and I made angel delight for dessert. Just wiped out easily it feels. Feel a bit like a fraud... :(

What's stopping you going off?

Guilt about work colleagues picking up the slack mostly. And the worry that if I go off I will struggle to go back.

You probably need to give in to a few days of rest and then start gradually increasing your activity. Stress can make you drained and maybe you need a little down time? Sorry you're going through it, I wouldn't wish it on anyone x

I know what you mean re colleagues. I limped on until my diary was a bit clearer and basically tried to plan going off! Not the done thing it transpires...

Good luck- and don't forget we're no use to anyone if we completely fall apart Flowers

I've been off with stress I know I just needed to switch off, sleep, watch rubbish TV etc quite a lot. I also planned in enjoyable activities, days out, and went to the gym most days. When we are physically ill we need rest, when we are mentally ill we need to do things we enjoy. It often feels wrong when we are off sick to do this stuff but its what we need to heal our mental states.
