Is this depression?

My husband semi-frequently has huge episodes of feeling incredibly anxious about what I'd consider minor problems. He really struggles to get out of the panic and is often frozen unable to act. I'm feeling bad as I've often gotten frustrated with him, but down his inaction to laziness but I'm not starting to think it is a health issue. Is feeling frozen in inaction often a sign of depression or anxiety? I can see he really isn't able to think he way through the worry to move on.

It's debilitating

He should speak to his GP

Leave the diagnosis to the professionals

Yup sounds like depression & anxiety.
Good point from pp, caffeine does exacerbate anxiety.

GP is definately the way to go.

I am just recovering from PTSD which manifested as anxiety and at my worst point I would freeze up as my brain just wouldn't connect to do even simple tasks like make a cup a cup of tea. One evening I got stuck in the kitchen, because I couldn't work out how to leave! That was stress at its extreme!

I've been suffering from clinical depression for nearly 15yrs now, I've had several anti depressants, some only last a few months and then I'm so low again, I used to self harm but haven't in a while. Thing is I've stopped taking my meds now its been nearly 3 months, is there a herbal medicine I could take to boost my energy levels as they're low. I also heard that Apple cider vinegar helps but I'm not sure. Just don't want to go back on tablets as they cause me to have panic attacks and my anxiety levels go thru the roof. Thanks. This is my 1st ever post. Smile

I'd get him see gp.anxiety and depression often go hand in hand and are debilitating
Don't forget find some support for yourself as it can be very stressful/demanding/draining helping someone with MH issues(speaking as some one with them whose partner also sufferer)

Thanks for replies. Husband had GP appointment in two weeks. In the meantime I've asked him to stop drinking coffee as I think this is adding to the anxietyx
