Sertraline and lamotrigine

I have been taking Sertraline 50mg for about seven weeks. Three weeks ago I agreed with my GP to try increasing to 100mg but when I went to the pharmacy they were worried because I also take lamotrigine for epilepsy and she said it might increase the risk of seizures. The annoying thing is that the Sertraline was prescribed after I saw a psych as my GP and I both felt we needed a consultant to advise on drug treatment. I didn't see a consultant and the dr I saw said I could go up to 150mg. Unfortunately she didn't put that in her letter to my GP which is literally four lines long and doesn't say anything about doses.

I am now waiting for all this to be sorted out but I really feel like I need the 100mg. I am getting more and more agitated and am also using alcohol too much.

Has anyone else had this ? I have been seizure free for seven years and I don't want to jeopardise that. I haven't got a lot of confidence in the psych I saw.

I take that combo but for bipolar disorder, so don't know much about epilepsy, sorry. Do you see an epilepsy specialist? If so I'd ask them.

I have a neurologist and my GP has contacted him. It's just how I am going to manage until I get an answer. No one seems to have any sense or urgency and the longer I wait the worse I am getting. I am going away with another family at Easter and I don't want to go because it is making me really anxious. If I could up the Sertraline I might be feeling the benefit by then.

I have epilepsy that is well-controlled with lamotrigine. I've been on Sertraline before and nobody mentioned anything about it lowering seizure threshold. The only meds I've not been allowed to take because of that is synthetic painkillers like tramadol and nefopam, I've had to stick with dihydrocodeine and morphine. But I've taken all sorts of psych meds without it being mentioned.

This study concludes that Sertraline is safe in the vast majority of epileptic patients.

Also, I don't understand why there was no issue when you were on 50mg, yet suddenly there's a big issue at 100mg. If the medication decreases seizure threshold then I decreases seizure threshold.
