I've had hypnotherapy in the past (for confidence issues) with a guy who is now a celeb hypnotherapist and has appeared on TV countless times. To be honest I was underwhelmed, I didn't gel with him at all and I'm not sure it actually helped me Confused

With this in mind I'm hesitant to try it again and yet I'm not sure what other therapies might help break the terrible mental loop I'm in right now. We've been TTC for two years in July, three MCs, one a few months ago where the baby was found to be disabled. I am done, can't deal with it ruining my life anymore and want to just enjoy my son and my wonderful partner and move on. I am desperate for some brain retuning and am not sure if hypnotherapy might get me out of this cycle by cycle hope/depression groove I've been in now for years.

Would love to hear your experiences, particularly if it has any relevance to quitting TTC or similar. I am based on the Cambs/Beds border if anyone has any recommendations.

Thank you xx

You sound like you've had a really hard time, Flowers

I had hypnotherapy last year because my partner developed a disease which meant he would have to give up driving, and I couldn't drive. Suddenly I was faced with having to pass my test in a very short amount of time and I was a complete mess with the pressure of that and the fear and uncertainty of what our future held. My mum recommended someone and I can honestly say she was absolutely amazing. After each session I felt amazing and relaxed and she gave me some brilliant coping techniques which I still use when I feel anxious, its all about visualisation which sounds wanky but seriously works.

I'm in Hampshire but if you wanted her name I could give you that and she might be able to recommend someone, pm me if you do.

I might have been lucky with mine but she just seemed to completely get me and made me feel safe. Amazing experience

I have been seeing a hypnotherapist/psychotherapist for almost 2 years for anxiety/CPTSD (bad divorce EA relationship)/social phobia/sexual issues and so many, many other things!! Blush

She has been fantastic. Costing me a small fortune, but at least I can function and kind of get on with life with my dd.

I have found finding a decent therapist is a bit of a lottery. I did see one before the one I am seeing now, and she was next to useless. Didn't like her much and just didnt quiet gel somehow.

It has taken me 2 years to properly open up to my therapist, but I am getting there.

Look for ones that offer a free first 'chat' session. At least then you can get an idea of what they are about. Even then, dont be afraid to walk away and try again.

I saw one for a while for depression & anxiety. It was a waste of time & money. Maybe try reike or reflexology.
