St John's Wort - palpitations ?

I started taking SJW yesterday for the first time and have felt really weird since. I expected a little bit of nausea/dizziness but I feel awful. My head is fuzzy, my eats feel blocked -almost like I'm underwater ?? Since I've taken today's tablets, I've had pretty constant heart palpitations

Are these normal side effects ? Do I continue to take them and hope they wear off ? Or should I stop now ? The tablets are from Holland & Barrett and there is no info leaflet with them .....

I think you should stop taking them and talk to your GP, it might be that these side affects are acceptable as they sound similar to the side effects you get from SSRIs which SJW is purported to have similar effects. Just to say that you must not take SJW within two weeks either way of SSRIs (ADs such as citaloptram, prozac, serteraline etc)

Thank you Smile. I haven't seen the GP and haven't taken any other anti d's. I was hoping the SJW would give me a bit of a lift without needing stronger stuff !
