Just been given Dolsulepin for anxiety and to help me relax at night, i have to take 25mg before bed for this week and then up it to 5mg. I have never taken anti-depressants before so i am slightly worried about side effects. Anyone else take these and how do you find them?

Hi I've been taking dosulepin for about two years now. I'm currently taking 75mg but have been on different doses. I was on 100mg at one point.

I tried to come off last year and managed to get down to 25mg. However I had to go back up to 50mg and then up to 75 mg at the beginning of this year due to other health issues that were making me anxious and messing up my sleep.

I find them really good in that I don't get any side effects and get a good nights sleep. Previously I took citalapram and tried mirtazapine without success so am really pleased to find an AD that works for me.

Thank you Orange, glad they are working for you, i took my first one last night (25mg) expecting to fall asleep after an hour but led awake half the night, do they take a few weeks to work (like some other AD's)? or is it because i'm on such a low dose?

Yes they do take a good 2-3 weeks to work properly and you are on a low dose. I think the normal starting dose is 75mg but if you're taking dosulepin for anxiety it may be that the doctor decided to start you lower and see if you need more.

I'm taking dosulepin mainly for depression and noticed that when I did drop the dosage last year, the sedating effect was much less on 25mg.

I might like to come off them one day but am worried I'll never sleep! Hope they work for you.
