Hi everyone.

However, every now and then I wake up and my hands are shaking and I feel anxious.

I think the trouble with anxiety is that it doesn't seem to follow any particular pattern and comes and goes as it pleases! I am recovering from a severe episode of depression and anxiety. I have a community psychiatric nurse who comes every week and is very helpful. She recommends CBT (Cognitive Behaviour therapy) which is thought to be the best therapy for dep and anxiety. On her recommendation I have just bought a book from Amazon called "Mind over Mood" by Dennis Greenberger and Christine Padesky. They are Americans (which usually puts me off for some reason) but already I am finding the book very helpful. It is easy to read and there are exercises to do (I think it was £9.99) Alternatively you could find a CBT therapist (you'll wait for weeks on the NHS) but if you can afford it I think it is probably money well spent.

Glad to hear you feel happy most of the time!

Cortisol levels are fairly high in the morning. If you drink tea or coffee maybe switch to decaf.

Another thing is your blood sugar may be low so try to eat within half an hour of getting up but not something too sugary.

You can get that book in the library.
