Anyone interested in trying to get visible abs?

A six pack, four pack or a party seven!
I'm heading rapidly to fifty and thought this could be my midlife crisis! Cheaper than a porsche and less upsetting than an affair.

I'm a pear and you can sort of see a hint of abdominal muscle occasionally in a good light, so hopefully achievable. I think I'lll need to lose 10lb and up my exercise considerably. So doing half an hour HIIT circuits 5 times a week , starting couch to 5k (I'm crap at running) cutting white carbs and sugar and drinking water instead of wine.
I'm taking a before pic on Monday. Ugh.

Anyone done it and has advice? Or anyone fancy joining me?

I've got visible abs, I'm 45, not really a six pack though. I don't know exactly how they happened or how impressive they'd look in a photo. If they look ok I'll post a pic. I think it's mostly from having fairly low body fat overall, don't think I've ever done a sit up or specific and exercise in my life. I've always been fairly active - ride horses, walk several miles a day, run half marathons and training for a full but on lowest possible mileage. Used to do lots and lots of yoga. I don't follow a particular diet but try to eat a bit of everything.

I managed last year when I wasn't working much and had the time. Now I am working full time I've lost it Sad I miss them and would love to get them back again. I'm 41 now btw.

HIIT will help you more than the running. Are you doing any weight training? Kettle bells are great for abs.

Happy to give advice and maybe it'll get me motivated again!

I want abs. I'd be happy with just two visible ones...

Ooh replies! The hitt is weight based and on the trx and I'll up the weights I use. I think I just need to lose the overlying blubber.
Please do post a pic, they'll be better than mine. I'll be happy with 2 too Smile

I want visible abs! I've been losing weight slowly for the past 3 months by being mindful of my eating and portions, and I do 1x yoga and 1x bodybalance sess a week. I haven't been dieting at all. I've lost a stone so far but I know I've gained a lot of muscle as well. I can feel those abs underneath the fat and I just need to keep going and be even more conscious about food choices.

I've gone from a 12/14 to 8/10 so good progress but very slow.

We can do it!
I've been low carbing for a bit but have been rather slack drinking wine and eating vast amounts of cheese and nuts. I've started this morning logging stuff and I was horrified that my tiny handful of nuts was over 200 hundred calories. I reckon I'm doing over a thousand in cheese, nuts and wine alone and I'm only 5 ft 3. No wonder the weight's creeping on.
Anyway Brekkie was greek you, said nuts and some strawberries. Going to do c25k later and a circuit of press-ups, squats, crunches and plank.
Downloaded this book and following her on instagram, lots of manageable exercise sessions. Her abs are TO DIE FOR, but she's a twenty something dancer so probably something to admire not aim for!
I'm going to venture onto one of those body fat monitors at the gym and see where I am. My BMI is 21.79, I think it needs to be around 20 or significantly more muscly for visible abs on my physique.
Shall waffle on here to try and maintain motivation :)

Wow well done wings that is brilliant progress, without dieting too.

I'm just plugging on on my lonesome here :)
DD's dance teacher said that the key to a six pack was always keeping your core engaged and not having too much fat. So I'm holding everything in all the time, tummy looks flatter at least!
Lots of arm weights and squats today and second week of c25k started.

She's right. You basically need well defined abs but critically, also low abdominal fat, so it's easier if you're naturally a pear than an apple. I have lost my six pack over the summer but aiming to get it back by beginning of October. I got it through trail running and Crossfit. To be honest, I'm not prepared to make the lifestyle sacrifices to look uber ripped, plus at my age it doesnt do my face any favours, but I do like to have a bit of definition.
