Hey everyone, I am just after a bit of advice please- this is my first post here :)
In the past three years I have put on about 30kg (!!) this does involve having one baby, but still..
I have been going to the gym and trying to eat a little better but I'm really not seeing any changes- in fact, according to the scales I have put on 8lbs???
Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on?
I do about 40 mins of cardio- cross trainer and rowing mainly, and then about 20 of strength exercises- leg press, abdominal crunches etc, and have been doing it around 2 and a half months now.
I feel gross and disheartened so any help is really welcome, thank you Smile

It could be your hormones! I put on once two stone in 8 weeks with no changes to my diet, lifestyle or gym attendance! Please check out metabolic syndrome/ insulin resistance.

DrinkFeck thank you! I will have a look. So this isn't necessarily normal? I am in my mid twenties now and thought it might be my metabolism slowing down but 30kg is crazy right?

It's not right at all. From my experience I can revommend Fary Taubes's book: Why We Get Fat? Don't be put off by the simplistic title, I found it life changing.

It doesn't sound right. I'd go to the doctor. It could be something to do with your thyroid or something else.

Ffs! Gary Taubes! Could be thyroid it too but I had all the thyroid symptoms and the results were negative. Just check out all avenues. And if the GP doesn't take it seriously, you can always see another one at the practice!

TheAwfulDaughter I am trying to drink loads of water, but I doubt it's 2.5/3 litres, that is a good point. I have just looked back through my weight chart and in September 2012 I weighed 7 St 12 which was underweight (I am 5'7") and I now weigh 12st 8, I can't work out what's going on :(

2.5l? Really? I'm interested to know more as I'm struggling with weight and I'm the same height/weight.

TheAwful can you link to info please?
