Did you run throughout your pregnancy?

As above really. Feel like death warmed up as in my first trimester and the thought of running makes me want to heave but I have events I've entered (didn't know I was pregnant) and I'm wondering whether to withdraw or go and run them gently.

Just looking for others to share their experiences really.

I had done couch to 5k and got up to 10k then found I was pg having entered a race one week later. I did the 10k at 5wks pg, had to go very slow but ran it all, then did one more run of less than 2 miles, then gave up. I wish I had carried on tbh as I am sure I could have done some slow, short runs til I got bigger. Give it a go, just walk when you need to!

Hello. I did. Yes. Was running before I got pregnant. Ran the whole way through, most weeks, up until week 42 (t+11) he arrived 4 days later.

My only tips. You should be able to hold a conversation whilst running, I.e. not be out of breath. Now is not the time to be trying to get a pb pr build up distance. You need to make sure you are well hydrated and dont overheat either. Other than that, be sensible, trust your instincts and take it steady.

I really enjoyed it most weeks 14-28 to be honest. But kept going because it made me feel human. Would recommend fitta mamma active clothes.

Good luck and enjoy!

I ran until I was about 13 weeks then it felt too jarring on my body and I didn't feel happy with the pounding of running. I continued to cycle until my bump was too big and also continued with aerobics and yoga. Its such personal thing and as momzilla said you must listen to your body and do what you feel is right for you!

Thanks.

I didn't run last week because of half term and nausea took a hold. Ran yesterday and it was ok. Noobs hurt to start with as they are super sore but it wore off. Going to try little and gentle and see what happens. No idea how I'm going to explain my change of pace to my friends esp when we meet up to race in a few weeks time. It's ages til my 12wk scan.

Only 5 min short treadmill runs at the gym (plus weights and cycling), I managed that until 8 months pregnant with both dc's.

I did bugger all in the first trimester when I was sick.

I didn't run as the first trimester wiped me out. It was all I could do to get through a days work! And then I had hadn't been running long enough to get back into it after three months off IYSWIM.

Now I'm a much more experienced runner, with much improved fitness, so I like to think that 'next time' I'll be able to keep going. But only time will tell I suppose.

Congratulations!
Listen to your body. It will tell you what you should be doing (or not) loud and clear.

Going to not run with my athletics club and go out on my own so I can listen to my body and do my own thing.

Thanks for all the advice and comments.

Lots less intensity than when non-preg, agree with a pp you should be able to talk while running. I carried on until 36 weeks with my second, with my first didn't do much at all. My return to fitness and proper exercise was so much easier after my second baby, I say keep running!
