I did my first run this morning
Overall it was good, I'm about as fit as I thought I was though my breathing is not great so I can get breathless quickly. I do recover very quickly though so I think it's probably technique more than lack of fitness IYSWIM?
Anyway theain issue is I need new trainers desperately. Mine are very old and have been worn for general dog walking and stuff. No support left and left me with decidedly wobbly ankles Hmm
As the bulk of my running will be off road I was looking at fell running shoes at the weekend. I have seen some on eBay for £25ish and in the shop I was being pointed towards some which were over £100 by a very fervent young man with very white teeth.
Obviously these are both ends of the scale but any advice would be much appreciated. I'm also going to play hockey in a scheme to get old gits adults back into the game so they would be ideal for AstroTurf as well :)

My advice would be to get your gait checked before you order anything....then you know exactly what type of trainers would be good for you and how you run. My local DW fitness do this for free and it only takes a few mins - not sure if there's one of these near you or another sports shop that does similar? Then, once I knew the best trainer for me, (cushioned) I've gone and looked online to save money!

And I always go for half a size bigger as your feet swell and prevents black toenails.....
