I am about to do the shred for the first time ever. I dont have many worries about my weight but I am incredibly unfit, I'm even more inflexible.
Sit ups are my nemesis as I can't even sit up straight with my legs out in front of me

Any tips going spare?

I so want to be fit

No tips but good luck ! It is hard work but worth it .

I would rather do an hour in the gym , It's a bit much for me .

TomDudgeon Mon 18-Mar-13 11:33:05

I can never seem to get it quite right. I was feeling it in my arms and legs when she was talking about abs
I tried following closely, using pause and slow mo too
Also big fail at press ups, even modified
Biggest fail though was cool down I can't even sit with my legs out in front of me let alone reach forward, that was the point when I wanted to give up which seemed like madness

Plus all my joints clicked the whole way through which was a bit off putting. I'm only 32

Thanks for the luck btw

I find her a bit hectic and as much as I know it works I think it is a bit full on and off putting to do if you have just started .

It makes me give up if its too hard .

I have joined a gym three weeks ago and being able to do my own thing is really helping . I have a way to go but do far do good .

TomDudgeon Mon 18-Mar-13 11:48:58

I would love to join a gym but money (gear and membership) and ability to get there are making it a no at the moment
For now it'll have to be the shred and walking. This is my first experience of an exercise video so nothing to compare to

travellingwilbury Mon 18-Mar-13 11:54:25

Walking is probably better than anything , and the cheapest . I have only been able to join because they are doing a special deal .

Good luck with it tomorrow , you will ache .

If it aint hurting, it aint working wink.

I haven't done my shred dvd in ages, been able to get to the gym a bit more often recently.

TomDudgeon Tue 19-Mar-13 08:09:32

Though she kept banging on about abs and I hurt on the ribs under my arms

travellingwilbury Tue 19-Mar-13 08:25:33

It was my legs that hurt afterwards , walking down stairs was interesting .

Doing it again today ? ;)

TomDudgeon Tue 19-Mar-13 13:52:43

I did it this morning smile
It's eased the aches and stiffness though I suspect the morning will be worse
What's mad is that I've been considering doing it again later though I suspect I shall eat cake instead
Talking about it does keep me motivated though

I'm struggling with the lunges
I can't do them without going over my knee
If I lean back at all I fall over backwards

LittleBunnyFeileFooFoo Wed 20-Mar-13 12:39:36

Tom I admire your dedication! It should get less painful, I find the third day is the worst, then the ache goes away until you start increasing your workout.

You can start by doing the lunges a bit shallow at first. As long as your form is good, you won't hurt anything by not going so deep your knee is 90 degrees.

the joint clicking is likely because your muscles aren't holding your joints steady and aligned, not because you've got arthritis or anything.

TomDudgeon Wed 20-Mar-13 12:42:38

I have to carry on now grin
I bought weights today

travellingwilbury Wed 20-Mar-13 13:15:52

I am very impressed grin

I can't do lunges properly either , I always feel like I am going to fall over .

Well done for keeping on .

TomDudgeon Fri 22-Mar-13 17:43:47

Day five still alive

Think I'm going to do week one next week too for definite. I don't feel much fitter yet though I do get an endorphins high after

travellingwilbury Fri 22-Mar-13 17:47:18

Well done tom , I am very impressed , how do you feel in the morning ?

I was really stiff going downstairs .

I have just lent the dvd to a friend , I am looking forward to hearing how she fete on .

TomDudgeon Fri 22-Mar-13 20:02:11

The first two mornings were ouch, it's not been so bad since but I'm feeling it going up stairs. The arms ache less when I lift them which is good with a three year old

Skang Sun 24-Mar-13 07:26:04

I've just bought this and am going to start today. I am really lacking the motivation though!

How are you getting on now?

Mrsrobertduvall Sun 24-Mar-13 07:32:49

Wait till level 2 grin

TomDudgeon Sun 24-Mar-13 10:59:14

I had a day off yesterday blush
It was deliberate, I'm exhausted any way, four ill kids recently but I'm about to do today's session.

Skang join me. Having this thread has definitely helped for motivation so we can help each other

I have found morning better than afternoons

TomDudgeon Sun 24-Mar-13 11:00:38

Oh and skang I'm doing level one again next week so if you start now we'll be at the same place.

TomDudgeon Tue 26-Mar-13 10:27:22
