Running: what do you do when the weather is miserable?

I've recently got back into running and will be doing a 10k in November. But the weather is so rubbish that I end up missing 3 or 4 days running. What do you do in bad weather when it's too wet to run?

I run anyway if I've had 2 days off.

Run - unless it's icy when it's dangerous, but even then I'd try to get out off-road. It's never too wet to run Grin Unless you're one of those unfortunates who's up to their knees in it, but I think then you'd have other posts to make! Honestly running in the rain is one of the best tings ever.

You need at least 2 pairs of running shoes - one to wear and another to be drying out. It's horrible putting on cold wet shoes, even if you're just heading out into more puddles.
And get a lightweight jacket that's breathable but wind resistant.

I'd rather run in the rain than in the sunshine any day! The trick is to be just uncomfortably cold as you leave the house, and after ten minutes you'll be perfectly cosy and invigorated :)

Waterproof socks revolutionised my training last winter! Sealskins they're called. No more wet feet.

Yep I run in all weathers (except ice, I did once run in snow) - I think of the wind as resistance! I was out last night although after it stopped raining.

Waterproof socks! Must investigate, had never heard of them...

I find a baseball cap is great for keeping rain out of your eyes, otherwise just run as usual! All weather girl here :)

You're right - I'll get out there regardless. Some great tips: socks, cap and 2 two pairs trainers.

run anyway.
you will need a shower after in any case, and a light drizzle is quite pleasant on a steaming head.

I only run in the winter, running in the cold/wet is much better than cycling so it's my exercise of choice in the winter - running in the heat is much worse!

I love running in the rain, it keeps me cool and its very invigorating.

I have 2 pairs of trainers on rotation all the time and I always wear a peaked hat which keeps the rain out of my eyes.

Like FredFredGeorge, it's the heat that gets me. I hate running in hot weather!

Yes as most have said, carry on running in the rain. Once you get going its fine!

Ran, hail or snow I still use the motorcrosser or the enduro bike.
