.....Scotland subsequently leaves the UK is that a small price to pay for winning or would it have made you change your mind?

It wouldn't have changed my decision, no.

Wouldn't have changed my mind either.

I think it would probably have changed my mind if it was a certainty but I wojld have struggled a lot. Why should Scottish votes change what the UK as a whole should do?

Hmm I would have been in a pickle! Glad I didn't have to dwell on it too hard.

No, not at all.

Glogirl - brave of you to admit that but surely it's exactly the sort of thing you should have dwelled on?

Everyone else is being very coy on the subject!

No of course not. I would still have voted Leave. It's not on for 4m Scots (1m voted Leave) to take priority over the remainder of the UK. I think with oil at rock bottom prices they are in for a very bumpy ride if they vote independence but their choice, as long as the rest of us won't be paying for it.

Agree with RortyCrankle. Let them be entirely independent with no say at Westminster.

I would still have voted leave

No. They said they would go for that and I voted knowing it could happen.

Voted leave. I have been in favour of Scottish independence for a long time, so the hypothetical certain knowledge of a Scottish vote to leave wouldn't have made mevote to remain the EU. It would seem odd to vote for UK to leave the EU but still expect to tell Scotland what to do.

Not at all.

I don't understand why Scotland want to leave the UK but join the EU.

GloGirl · 24/06/2016 20:11

Allegretto, because it wasn't certain that Scotland would leave if we voted out. 1 - they are unlikely to get another referendum and 2 - even if they do they might chose to remain in the UK. Scotland are a lot worse off economically at the moment due to the fall in oil prices so standing on their own 2 feet is less appealing to some than it was.

And what about if scotland leaves and border controls are introduced again in n ireland? Would that have impacted on your vote?

When I was considering how to vote, I read pretty much everything I could find, both online and elsewhere and on both sides of the argument. I came to the conclusion that Leave was best for the country and to be honest what Scotland or NI would or would not do did not affect that decision.

If we need to introduce border controls then I guess that is what we will do.

I don't understand why Scotland want to leave the UK but join the EU

Because Westminster gives precisely zero fucks about Scotland and Wales while the EU does.

SouperSal · 24/06/2016 20:33

I've never been so inclined to leave the Uk.

peachpudding · 24/06/2016 20:38

It wouldn't have changed my vote to leave. However I dont think scotland will leave the UK, its too dependant on English welfare.

Who says it does?

I think Scotland will leave. In fact, I'm almost certain.

Can't blame them really. Shame it's not really an option for Wales.
