Any good spelling apps for children with dyslexia?

Looking for a fun app to help my year 9 son with spelling, does anyone have any suggestions? He has dyslexia so it needs to be sympathetic teaching to that.

Interesting post - I will follow this with interest...

We have just signed up for Doddle English which comes with a spelling programme too - the idea is that you do daily practise and it works out your level and adapts to what you know and need to learn. I have two dyslexic sons - aged 11 and 9 and they are both enjoying it, but it is early days!

DS1 is good at learning but struggles to move them into long term memory or recall. DS2 is the opposite, so it will be interesting to see if it works for both of them.

We have tried so many different things and haven't found a silver bullet yet. A US book called Sequential Spelling was really good, as it teaches them to spell building up on root words and sounds. We did this for about 4 months but then couldn't manage it each day and it fell away.

Spelling Tutor is brilliant for dyslexics. Really turned DS’s spelling around.

I know that the british Dylexia association has a couple suggestion. (Dragon??) I would look up the BDA.

Have you tried Nessy? They are a dyslexic specific learning program.

I'll second Dyslexia Gold Spelling Tutor.

I wouldn't necessarily describe it as fun but just 10 minutes a day really does help. It's very cleverly put together so to ensure words are properly remembered not just for long enough to pass a test.
