Dull but need to know - do iron-on name labels work?

Or do they drop off after a few washes? DS off to school in September and would rather iron on all the labels instead of sewing.

No I don't think they do. You either get the ones that do drop off, or the ones that stay on but the name slowly fades. You can then write the blardy name on with a laundry pen.

I use these www.easy2name.com/woven-name-labels.htm they are really good and I've used them alot...but I have to confess that unless I'm doing several items I tend to write the name on with a laundry pen.

mine haven't. The first ones I bought were cheaper and they sometimes came off but these one are still on.

ARW - I'm with you. have always got labels from www.nameitlabels.co.uk/
the only thing they come off is swimming trunks after about a hundred wears so its no hardship just to iron another on. Also as DS2 wears DS1's handmedowns, I just iron his lavels over the top and they stay on too. ( I buy different colours for each to make sorting th elaundry easier. The good thing about ireon-ons is that i put a label in EVERYTHING they own, not just school uniform, so makes life easier - would never bother if i had to sew 'em in

Most kids schoolclothes have a label on them somewhere or other that's big enough to write on with a laundry marker or other indelible fineliner pen. About the only thing I ever sew labels onto now is PE socks.

Take my word for it and save yourself hours and ££ !

You buy hundreds of labels, you sew them on in reception, they grow out of their uniform in 6 months. You can't find the labels, you scribble the name in the new uniform in biro (or laundry pen, but good biro lasts just as long).
Save yourself the money don't bother buying the labels to start with
