How utterly tedious is that thing called TES Personal...

I check in there from time to time and cannot believe how dull it has become. It seems the only posters left are mainly dullards and all they do is say nice things to one another. The new regime got rid of all the sparky posters who occasionally took pleasure in being controversial.

Raves from the grave:
Da Grinda
MrsMaths
Cyolba
MeanAverageJoe
Serendipity
Celticqueen
Rose 23

And so many more...

Better not name the dullards although it is hugely tempting...

Any TES posters reading this? It might be good to share ideas about the demise of a once vibrant, virtual debating chamber.

Wouldn't you be better posting this on TES, not sure anyone here is bothered about how dull it might be on a different site!

Well, they are so repressive over there these days, they do not permit any questions of the type I have posed!

Anyway, posting here has been kinda cathartic.

Ooh I was on there yonks ago! Made some real life friends through that site. I'm sure I recognise a few posters from there on here. Although we are quite unlikely to get Grandelf or Packerguy unfortunately Grin

Lots of us have migrated over here! Yeah, I feel a bit sad it's gone too. To be honest, it makes me less likely to go on their site. The resources are too ridiculous to find anything useful anyway. So time-consuming to find anything useful, you might as well write your own.

Those names have dredged up memories from years ago! The days of Detterling, Burndenpark, Sir Henry... Who else? OldAndrew has become famous which is a bit weird.

Yeah, OldAndrew used to keep plugging his blog, then he got heavily into Twitter, he was namechecked by Michael Gove in a speech.

Tom Bennett who used to be the TES behaviour guru became mates with him and when Bennett started organising the ResearchEd conferences, OldAndrew interviewed a couple of Ofsted bigwigs in front of a packed audience.

His name is actually Andrew!

@Susan
That was Goneril! She "died" and her son Marmaduke came on to pass on the sad news. Masses of gullible posters wept and said how awfully sad they were and what a wonderful person the late Goneril was.

Remember Celticqueen? She was going to get married and arranged a hen night meet for her chosen TES buddies up in Newcastle or somewhere. She never actually did get married and they pretended on her behalf. Hilarious times.

I really miss those days.

I was on a pregnancy thread in Personal and got so annoyed by another poster that I had to leave. I came here. She turned up too.So obvious by her whiny and self-indulgent posting style.

Haven't used TES apart from the jobs section since the changes now.

It's such a crap forum now-it used to be incredibly useful!

Haven't been on the TES forum in over a year. And when the ability to charge for resources was added that was the nail in the coffin for me. I know lots are still free, but suddenly the whole sharing spirit of it disappeared. I left mine on there though cos I'm not that mean!

Albertdog "died" too, which I was quite sad about until someone clued me in that he most likely was not real.

I don't use the same username here that I had there. I quite like the fresh start!

The people who are left on the fora are rattling around being nice to each other - bleurgh - and taking care the moderators who have absolutely no sense of proportion - don't ban them. All new posters are premoderated indefinitely! Some for 6 months or more!!

It is like a vanilla version of The Twilight Zone. With one male exception, everyone left is a dullard. Bar none.
