Refunding a buyer, wants cash, rather than paypal.

Have had a message saying the buyer is unhappy with an item and she will be dropping it to my house on friday but wants a cash refund. can I do this or does it have to be via paypal? I don't mind giving her a cash refund but will I be able to get my fees back if I do this?

If she paid via paypal then only refund thru paypal, or else she will pick up her cash then go home and open a paypal dispute and get her money back twice.

Sunhappy is absolutely correct. Don't do it.

yep was just going to say what sunhappy has. paypal refund only, its safest for you.

Depends, did she collect the item initially? If you have online tracking to prove it was delivered to her she couldn't open a dispute and win as she has no proof it was returned.

Well I say that but y tracking didn't work last time I claimed through paypal, and they still refunded me - I'm not sure why RM didn't get a signature.

grr was tired when I read her message, its not a problem that I can sort out, she thinks that the carrycot holder is a lever for the braking system, and she thinks the carrycot has a hoop missing, but she must be putting it wrong.. as it doesn't have a hood you use the pushchair hood as a hood..

mail and tell her that you will refund her via paypal...it protects you both. DO NOT give cash.

Tell her you will refund her paypal there and then, ie on the pc whilst she is there but you will do not cash because you only refund by the method paid in the first place.

I wouldn't risk it tbh.

what is your paypal account linked to - your bank? It will take it out of your bank account.

Sparkly, I would be very careful about this. Why should she want cash when she paid by Paypal?

misdee is going to transfer the money to me, and i will do a refund via paypal, then pay misdee back out of my bank

Can't you show her how it goes together when she comes on Friday?

am going to refund her when she arrives with my buggy, she is returning it because it wasn't what she thought it was going to be

she thinks that it wasn't worth the money she paid for it, its a rare mountain buggy in cream, and because it doesn't have the single brake system, she isn't happy

What a nightmare! I hope it all gets sorted out, sounds like she doesn't know enough about mountain buggies and european & british standards etc.

Its a holland import, which has the British standards sticker on it. So must compline with BS. Its really lovely, but I have an urban and I know its very rare to have one in cream, but she just seems intent on returning it. I phoned her to see if I could help her with the setup but she wasn't interested. I believe she has buyer remorse

Well to have the latest BS standard 1997 (not the earlier year) it has to have linked back bakes.

Yes it does seem like she is having buyers remorse

SparklyGothKat · 19/08/2008 16:15

it has a 1996 BS sticker

she should have emailed prior to buying it then...
Hope you sell it on again ok

Well if it doesn't have linked back brakes they are either broken or it has been illegally stickered because 1996 is the correct year but the linked back brake thing is part of the condition of that british standard. (I am such a saddo knowing too much about pushchair BS 1996!)

Report
nappyaddict · 20/08/2008 01:29

so what is wrong with the brakes .... don't understand!!
