eBay

wrong item sent seller doesn't want me to return

I bought some halogen coloured low wattage spotlights for my kitchen as the ones I already have are far too bright.

Received them on Wednesday and put them in and there clear normal lights not coloured and are a higher wattage.

I opened a wrong item sent dispute and the seller has only just got back to me and has said instead of resenting the item back as its too much hassle and as per eBay terms I would have to send at my own cost I should accept a refund of £4 and under the condition I do not leave negative feedback.

The lights I paid for were £10, the lights I received were £8 but are useless too me as there a higher wattage so I won't use them anyway so I don't want the refund as I will only be realistically getting £2.

Do I have to pay for refund postage as if it's the sellers fault I assumed they should pay.

I have responded that I am unhappy with the offer made but do not understand what's happens from here??

They are liable for return postage as per eBay's terms.

If they don't want them back that's fine but they need to refund you the price you paid including the postage you paid

Thanks for the link, I had a Google and came across conflicting advise.

I will post that directly to them.

Thanks for your help

ave a seller is not responsible to "refund return postage", they must provide a pre paid returns label. Postage costs can not be reclaimed retrospectively, unless it's a goodwill gesture.

You are entitled to a full refund OR the item you ordered. Ask the seller which one they would prefer to offer you.

They're trying to pull a fast one don't accept their offer, and when you do get the result you want leave negative feedback detailing the blackmail as well!

Yes it seems they are. They said they would refund or resend until I put in a claim now there saying it will be easier for both parties if I except the small refund.

I won't and I hope eBay have to step in as this conversation has taken place on the resolution page then they can see they won't pay postage to return and are trying it on.

This is so infuriating they have offered another £1 off the item and I get to keep it. And they want me to except the refund as they suffer loss from postage fee as the item was free postage and final valuation fee. After my refund I have been told I need to leave feedback of 4stars or more and not be angry and email them before I leave feedback.

It's worth holding out just to get another priceless reply out of them.

I'm going to use the screenshot below and start quoting my terms now.

So refusing to refund in full and feedback extortion too. How bloody dare they. Just get the case escalated as soon as possible and neg them now, and low stars too. Let eBay sort it out.

Omg after quoting my rights and sending what's terms on screen shot that I am not responsible for return has worked. Full refund given.

Thanks for the help. DH said I should of accepted the first offer even tho it's not what we wanted.

Glad it worked out, don't forget the negative feedback to warn other buyers.

And low stars too - they can be much more damaging tbh.
