I already bought him a fancy watch when we got married and he has a lovely bike! He said he would be mortified to have a personal number plate...

Any other ideas? Thank you for replying! :)

Original painting - DH got a painting of his cat, he loves the cat more than me.
He's said he wants SL1210s but may need to wait till 50!

Why spend so much if there’s nothing he wants? Why not hang onto the money and then treat him to a weekend away when you can? I think the idea of an original painting is a good one, but then I am an artist.

Thank you for your suggestions. There's nothing he needs... he isn't the sort to ask for something either. I don't want to hang out on the money, I had planned a big ski trip pre-covid which was £3,000. I want to get him something special, he does so much for us as a family.

The painting is a great idea! Any others? :)

We don't do the present thing. Just a card .

Ideally you would need 2 pairs , one to rest. Shoe trees , care kit , and shoe horn could all add up .

Original painting has gone down well here - local artist from favourite place
Watch-winder if he has a fancy watch
Cufflinks with stones representing children/engraved message
High-end sunglasses
Case of favourite wine + fancy wineglasses
Canvas print of favourite photo of the cat

I'm getting mine a fire pit for his 50th but it's something he has always wanted.
A painting sounds good, maybe of somewhere he's been and loved?

Depends a bit on his personality - if he's someone who appreciates nice clothes then something like a really classic coat would be nice.

I am dreading thinking of something for my 37 year old DH already - I got him a high end classic watch for his 30th and he just doesn't care about clothes, shoes etc. so something like that wouldn't be much of a gift for him (more for me as I enjoy dressing him up!) He bought himself his bucket list bike this year....I think it'll have to be a trip away so fingers crossed covid fucks off in the next three years!

These are all fab ideas, thank you!

LOVE the fire pit idea... Please keep them coming! :) Covid has really messed things up. I don't even know where to begin on organising the actual day.

Balloons and a home cooked meal?

@whateverjudy Agreed, I always buy him nice clothes for Christmas. The usual Hackett/Gant load...

@STUCKINTHECITY are you married to my husband?

Fire pit suggestions reminded me of another hit present - large gas barbecue (ready assembled), set of bbq tools, bbq cook book (Grillstock), steak delivery from Donald Russell

For the actual day, there are some fab meal delivery service out there now I think Rick Stein and M&S are doing breakfast delivery around Valentine's Day, and if you're near a Gails bakery they do breakfast delivery all the time.

For dinner, Hawksmoor, Rick Stein, L'Ortolan, are all doing fab 3 course meal boxes, plus lots of London restaurants on The Dishpatch inc Angela Hartnett. If the date is near Valentines Day, Tom Kerridge/ Hand & Flowers menu looks amazing

Fancy cycling kit? DH likes the Rapha stuff.

A very good whisky?

Tech - does he need anything upgraded? New iPad?

Music - a good record player and vinyl albums of his favourite bands?

A good bottle of whisky and/or wine if that's his thing? I always think consumables or experiences are good for people who have everything or else it just becomes clutter!
