Covid

Timelines for Covid transmission in households

Just out of interest really... those who have had a case of Covid in the house, how long did it take for other members of the household to contract Covid (if at all)?

We are a family of 4.
DS tested positive on LFT 6 days ago, asymptomatic at that point.
He developed symptoms 4 days ago.
He got positive PCR result 3 days ago (PCR taken 5 days ago).
The rest of us are negative on daily LFTs so far and awaiting PCR results taken today.
DS is keeping mainly to his room since positive LFT, but I've been taking care of him and we all share a bathroom.

The average for delta is 5 days iirc.

My DS had symptoms first;
7 days later I tested positive on LFD;
6 days later DD developed what we now know were symptoms, went on to test positive.

My daughter is positive PCR with symptoms since Wednesday. All rest of us in house still PCR and LFT negative. She's 4 so can't isolate.

For us DD1 tested positive on pcr as a close contact (no symptoms)

Day 4 dd2 tested positive, and day 5 me. DH still negative so far.

Obviously as dd1 has remained symptom free I’m not really sure when exactly she was originally positive.

DH five days after DC. Me three weeks after DC. Adults are both double jabbed.

My DD , a nurse, had covid November 2020 . I started symptoms a week after her . I was admitted to hospital a week after her but I'd had very little contact as she stayed in her bedroom . Her husband who slept in the same bed every night before she went into hospital Never caught covid and her teenage DD also never caught covid. Odd .

My husband got symptoms last Thursday, went for a test Friday & got the results back Saturday. The following Wednesday I got symptoms, went for a test and got a positive result on the Thursday. On Sunday our son got symptoms and went for a test, he got a positive result today. So far our 5 year old daughter is unaffected!

We know 7/8 families where a teenager has tested positive recently. There has been no spread to anyone else. I guess they are all lucky in having big houses where keeping away is easy. One family ate outside with the infected child most days. In smaller houses with shared bathrooms, bedrooms etc, it would be harder.

Seems like it might be a while before we know whether we're in the clear. We're 6 days since positive LFT, 4 days since symptoms started and 3 since positive PCR result.
Me and DP vaccinated, DD primary school age.

I tested positive on a PCR on a Thursday. Symptoms had started on the Wednesday. Rest of the family tested negative on the PCR on Friday. My youngest son then tested positive on a LTF on the Sunday evening confirmed on the Monday with a PCR. The rest of the family (another son and my husband) didn't catch it so you might be lucky!

DD2 had a negative LFT on Thursday. She had nausea/sore throat on Friday - came home from school early. LFT on Saturday was positive. PCR taken that day - positive. Symptoms ramped up after results.

DD3 - negative LFT on Saturday, but PCR taken that day was positive. No symptoms. Symptoms started Sunday.

Me - negative LFT Saturday, negative PCR on that day. Symptoms started Saturday evening, but LFT on Sunday morning was negative. Couldn't quite believe it. LFT at lunchtime on Sunday was positive - PCR taken but results not in yet.

DD1 is coughing and sore, but LFT so far negative and PCR on Saturday negative - Sunday's result not in yet.

DH, no symptoms, negative PCR and negative LFTs. Sleeping in the same bed as me, hugging DCs, etc.

DS2 came home from school with a temperature eleven days ago. He tested positive the next day. I also tested positive on the Saturday, then DH on the Monday, then DD last Thursday (a week after DS2).DS1 hasn't caught it. We've all eaten together and shared a bathroom. DS2 is only eight and I couldn't isolate him from the family. We've not been very unwell at all. All double vaccinated apart from DS2 and DS1 who has had one jab.

DS10 tested positive on lateral flow last Sunday, positive pcr on Tuesday.

His twin brother, dad and i are all still negative, we have had several lft & pcr. We are not self isolating at all, just carried on as normal at home.

We don't have a big house and he is with his brother 24 hours a day, they share a bedroom. Madness really!

DS (2) had covid in July and the rest of the household all remained negative - several lfts and pcrs done on each of us.

DD (6) tested positive a week ago and so far the rest of us are symptom free and negative LFT and pcr.

We haven’t isolated either child away from the family when poorly as they are too young. DH and I are both double vaccinated.

DD2 tested positive on LFT on a Monday, PCR the same day, PCR result positive. Mild symptoms started Tuesday. She has been isolating since the Monday afternoon and we don’t need to share a bathroom. DD1, DH and I all had PCRs straight away (on reflection maybe too early), all negative and also doing frequent LFTs. So far all clear after 8 days.

DS tested positive 6 days after me but on a PCR, not LFT. We both did numerous LFT and they all showed negative the entire time we had Covid so I don't trust them.

Ds2 got a positive pcr 12 days ago, he stayed asymptomatic. Despite him being unable to isolate due to his age and bed hopping between his brothers rooms none else caught it. (We did all isolate as a family because of the bed hopping)

ds (15yo) tested positive 10 days ago. So far the rest of us haven’t caught it. He’s been largely isolating in his room but has come out sometimes and I’ve been in there more than anyone else.
Amazed that my 13 yo hasn’t caught it (yet) . They were in the car together on the days leading up to the positive result.

@GreenLunchBox madly, he is. He works for 4 schools and they've all said that they want him in work, but to do daily lateral flows. That's the policy. I've told DD1's school that I'm not sending her despite her negative result.
