Anyone been able to book a delivery from Waitrose in the last few weeks? I’ve seen slots (for July!) being released but they’re instantly unavailable within seconds which makes me think they’re not actually able to be booked yet. It’s not in the same way that other supermarket slots are going quickly.

Has anyone managed to book one recently?

nope - put this down to prioritising the vulnerable.

Doesn't help me as I'm trying to shop for my immediate family, parents who are in their 70s with too many underlying health conditions to list, none of which are deemed severe enough to be , and neighbours who are self isolating

sorry posted too quickly - parents aren't in the shielded group despite having COPD, diabetes and asthma

DP has asthma, a chronic lung condition and has severely reduced lung function as a result but isn’t on the list either. I know there are lots of people who are vulnerable so don’t begrudge slots being held back for them but it’s the uncertainty which is difficult to deal with.

@pigoons
Have you registered them?

Can't register with Waitrose as we are in Scotland - the link only works for England. I've emailed customer services and had no response ... am back to prowling tesco website

I had a delivery on Monday. I am classed as vulnerable (age), but not extremely vulnerable. However, I have been online shopping with them for the last 3 or 4 years.

DH is on the shielding list. We are totally stuck.

We shop only with Waitrose, but he's not on their list because I'm the one who usually does the shopping.

Other supermarkets are doing better at prioritising vulnerable customers, but because we don't have loyalty cards for them we aren't on their systems and most aren't taking new customers.

The only way corona is getting into this house is when I bring it back from the supermarket - it's the only place I'd go and I'd rather avoid it entirely.

Have you registered on the govt website and put in your own email address? My priority access emails from the supermarkets said ‘you or a member of your household are on the govt shielding list’ so you should be able to get round the fact that you are the usual contact. Also I’ve been contacted by supermarkets I don’t shop with and never have. Make sure you’ve ticked need help with getting food on the govt website.

I think they only release slots about three weeks out, even though the calendar goes a lot further out. They say 'fully booked' or 'unavailable' so I'd assumed unavailable hadn't been released yet?

I got one start of March but can only see 2 or 3 days ahead now and no slots.

They choose postcode areas, every few days as far as I know.

So if I see 'fully booked' its because they haven't chosen my postcode area for the following few days.

I have managed to get a delivery at either 09.30 a.m ish, or after midnight.

Saying that, there is a slot available at the moment for Thursday morning.

They have now changed the info regarding postcodes I see.

Why can I only see limited slots?

Currently most customers see a few days' worth of slots, except for those listed as priority customers(eg those on the Government's list of vulnerable shoppers). This change in slot visibility was made in response to customer feedback as many were scrolling through weeks of slots without finding one free. It is worth checking back daily as new slots are released and we are working hard to provide more availability to all our customers
