Hi,

This is my first post and I'm therefore very new to all this! I've been on microgynon for about 10 years and my husband and I are are now trying for a baby. The gory detials... I took my last pill on 28th November and had my usual period a couple of days later. It's now a month later and I'm curious about when I'm likely to see my next period? I know 'everyone is different' but it's obviously a very exciting (and slightly nervous) time when you're trying to concieve. I understand that it can take my body quite some time to get back to noraml with a normal cycle but any opinon from someone in a similar positon or has been on the same pill would be very helpful.

Also, I've been 'bonking' my husband's brains out the last month and I'd like to know when I can start using the excuse of a headache once again! Ha Ha!

I was also on microgynon for about 10 years before starting TTC. Just like nowwearefour I also got pregnant first month off the pill BUT...I didn't ovulate for 6 weeks after the last pill I took, so if I hadn't have got pregnant I suspect my first period would have been about 8 weeks after stopping the pill.

I had the most horrendous period a month after coming off microgynon - brace yourself! Then I got pregnant the next month. I'd been on it for 6 years.

Good luck!

Hi. Your story is very similar to mine op! First period was fine and I had the same warning aches beforehand, similar length etc as I would have on a break bleed. Have been taking folic acid, have you?

Am now waiting to see when second period arrives and if any details change then? Sort of expected to suddenly be able.to feel an ovulation pain but I guess I don't get them. Sex drive has certainly increased since finishing on the pill, but that may be tmi sorry!

Good luck!

Hello! I've been lurking a bit on mumsnet...

I was also on microgynon for 10 years apart from a short break of a couple of months 3 years ago. I took my last pill on 8th December and like you am 'eagerly' awaiting my first true period :) exciting times.

Realise this isn't very helpful teehee but wanted to join in anyway!

Hi girls,

Thanks for the advice. It's nice to know that its possible to fall straight away! I'm two days late now but took an test at the weekend which showed a BFN - dissapointing, but I'm hoping that perhaps the test is a big fat liar and its just too early to tell! Smile

Furrybiscuit, glad someone is in the same boat as me! When is your period due, if you don't mind me asking?

Riskit4abiskit, I know what you mean about the increased sex drive - There was me thinking I just reeeeallly wanted a baby! Ha ha! Btw, love the name!

Keep me posted girls and I'll do the same! Good luck and happy trying! Smile

Hi! Smile
I took my last pill on 2nd November having been on microgynon for 9 years. Had the usual 'pill bleed' (not sure what else to call it!) afterwards and then waited until 10th December for a normal period- 35 day cycle! I'm on the second cycle now and it looks like it's going to be a similar length!

Mine was totally different to poppy though, quite light and different to what I (dimly) remember- my only memory is that they were heavy (horrendously so, in fact the reason that I went on the pill in the first place) and it really wasn't Confused

Good luck and fingers crossed! Smile

I was on microgynon for about 3 years and had a 7 month break a couple of years ago. That time it went back to normal straight away, I'm hoping (and dreading!) the same happens again.

Riskit, I know exactly what you mean about increased sex drive! Hubby and I have been at it a few times but I'm convinced I can't be pg as it's only been a week of not taking the pill (if I am then I will be freaking out even more than I am already!)

Pinkmoonlight, good luck! I hope the AF's aren't too bad and you don't actually have many of them until the BFP! Smile I'm dreading when/if mine comes in case its going to be an almighty, painful one!

Go for it Elektra, I'm sure your hubby isn't complaining! Ha ha! Nice to know I'm not the only one freaking out inside! Smile

Haha cheers bundle - I was completely freaked out yesterday, spent the weekend with hubby's family and surrounded by two very loud and very active kids...so kept thinking would I be able to cope with kids of my own. head explodes

The last time I had a break from the pill, I was reminded why I loved the pill - I was an emotional wreck who was in a world of pain!

Hi bundle

Don't mind u asking at all but who knows when it's due! I had my normal withdrawal bleed when I stopped but as I've been on it so long I'm not sure what my normal cycle is/was before I was on it! If it was to be 28 days, would be due around 5th Jan. was talking to my mum and she said she remembers when I took a break before my period came back pretty quickly so here's hoping :) (back then i wasnt ttc so paid no attention!)also bought a couple of sticks to pee on, just in case teehee. Has sore boobs and cramping for last few days so could be good news, could be AF!

Elektra funny you should say that, I'm now seeing I was more of an emotional wreck on the pill-have felt great the past few weeks! Strange what hormones can do to U isn't it?

Lots of us have biscuit names hehe Smile

Fingers crossed for you furrybiscuit!

I was an emotional wreck in my 7 day break but nothing as bad as when I'm off the pill, that is just horrible, sadly I'm actually looking forward to it as it means we can try properly once I have had AF! Although have cheated a couple of times since coming off of the pill. Oops Blush

Furrybiscuit · 31/12/2012 18:53

Ty Elektra but just kidding myself, I know it can happen but would just be far too lucky if it was first month.

Were u the same (emotional wreck) the whole time before when u had the 7 month break? Must be hard going! Haha at the cheating and oops, whats the worst that could happen...

Keep your fingers crossed and think positive!

Oh yes, it was basically my periods from my teenage years all over again. I was moody, weepy, hungry all the time! Oh and the pain was horrible, the pill was a god send as AF was light and relatively pain free!

My mum kept telling me that having babies would help with the period pain etc...now apparently I am ready to find out if she's right! Eek!

Furrybiscuit · 31/12/2012 20:02

Think positive teehee! For a positive test...I'm easily amused!

Aww that sounds awful, hopefully u won't have to suffer too many of them before you get to test out your mum's theory!

Just had my last ciggie, been on and off them all year but and recently just when having a drink/evening/weekend/any other excuse I could come up with! Now have finished a pack and won't be buying anymore, might as well start the new year right! Eeeeek it's scary isn't it?

Elektra83 · 31/12/2012 20:26

Hehehe! I

Fingers crossed for us all! I definitely am not looking forward to the pain, will just have to remember to be nice to hubby when AF comes around!

Oh good plan, today is my last day on the wine told. Yup very scary, although my theory /hope is that I lose weight whilst pregnant - only on the basis that I can't eat soft cheese!

Very scary though!

Hi girls, Happy New Year!

Riskit, I'm going to change my name to CustardCream so I fit in better Smile

Do your other halves/husbands' know that you're on mum's net? I haven't told mine, I think he'll worry that I'm getting too obsessive about ttc! Which sadly, I think is becoming the case! Have you girls changed your diet yet whilst ttc? I haven't done with mine but now after the festive period I think I will cut out drinking as much... Well, that's the plan anyway!

Furry, four days late for me know - providing I have the normal 28 days cycle which I doubt is the case after being on the pill for so long! Wish AF would bloody hurry up (excuse the pun, that's really made me laugh, ha ha!) At least then I'll know what my cycle is! Hope your AF isn't too bad when it gets here! (Or 'if' it gets here!) Smile

I've ordered some of the ovulatoin and pregnancy sticks from ebay.... oh and some lube, lol! Happy peeing on sticks, girls! Smile

Hey bundle

I think mine may have seen the webpage open but he hasn't said anything and I haven't expressly told him - for the same reason, he might think I'm a little obsessed haha!

My PT put me on a diet a few months before my wedding and I might go back on that - hopefully will lose a bit of weight and the less carbs in it will help me generally! It's more protein based (I'm veggie so it's hard to get protein!) so the plan is to start that again on Monday, the drinking is definitely going to be cut down too as it doesn't seem to agree with me at the moment!

I ordered pregnancy tests from amazon yesterday...eek! Smile

Hi Elektra

Sorry to sound so thick but what does PT stand for? I've googled it and I've got 'prayer/positive thoughts'?! Sorry, still trying to get to grips with all the abbreviations! I'm a veggie too but think when I fall I'll just have to bulk up a little extra on nuts and fruit to get my protein!

Hi bundle

PT in my message above was for Personal Trainer! His diet was just brilliant, I tweaked it a little but it worked so well, I'm actually looking forward to going back on it!

I now get protein from tofu, nuts, seeds, quinoa (which is so nice!), pulses too.

I just said to my sister that I feel nauseous and tired...her response was to ask if I was pregnant...lovely!

Report
bundle4me · 02/01/2013 12:39

Ohhh! No wonder why I didn't know what that meant! Ha ha! I got to the gym a fair bit but I'm going to take a bit easier now that we're ttc!

I've never tried quinoa. I've (unfortunately) trie quorn though! Two mouthfuls of it anyway, the rest was given to my dog! Yuk!!!!

Isn't it horrible when everyone assumes straight away that you're pg as soon as you say something like that?! I used to find it quite annoying before but now that we're ttc I think I'd find it even more irritating!

Hahaha! If I ever said to my PT that I felt a bit nauseous his first question would be if I was pregnant and would then ask why wasn't I pregnant! He will be worse I ever tell him we are trying (was advised to let him know as they do different exercises taking this stuff into account!). I ideally want to lose some more weight before trying but I doubt it will happen haha!

Quinoa is lovely, the trick is to cook it in stock so that you get some flavour to it. It's nice with tofu in it and chilli sauce/cottage cheese on the side. yum! Quorn is a bit hit and miss I find, we use a lot of the mince and things that you can add flavour too. The other stuff is ok once in a while but otherwise it gets a bit samey.

It just made me laugh! I think if people keep asking/making comments then yeh I reckon it would be very annoying.
