How was it for you? Thought this might get more traffic than on the Conception board, so here goes.

On 4th cycle of clomid. 150mg. Am beginning to feel as if I am never going to get there. On the 2nd cycle I did ovulate, but didn't get pregnant. The 1st and 3rd cycle I didn't ovulate at all. It seems it's all really hit and miss.

So what I'm hoping is that there will be some MNers out there who can give me a wee boost with their positive outcomes on clomid, as I am really feeling down in the dumps this evening.

TIA

well, I don't want to scare you but a member of my family had triplets after taking Clomid Grin

Not me personally - close friend had several MCs and used clomid, this would be 17 years back - healthy 16yo son, deliberate gap and a healthy 13yo girl.

Good luck and have fun trying until it kicks in Grin

I had two tries at Clomid. Both 6 month trials. Unfortunately it didn't work for me, but I had PCOS so maybe that's why? I always remember my DH going in to Boots to collect it for me, and telling me that the lady behind the counter said it was very successful for a lot of people. And I think it is, so don't give up hope. I conceived naturally in the end, against all odds.
Good Luck, it WILL happen for you at some point.

Thank you for the luck, not so sure about the fun after all these years but I suppose I'll muster up some energy for upcoming shag week!

Space as you can probably tell from my name, I'm a PCOSer too.

Were you on metformin as well, by any chance?

Congrats on your DC :)

Don't know how much she was taking - am guessing it wasn't triple the normal dose though Smile and twins do run in the family.

Good luck - I'm sure lots of people will be here with their positive stories.

I couldn't ovulate on clomid, tried 3 cycles I think.

I did one round of tamoxifen and had success!

Good luck.

hello

it's a few years ago now, but I have two success stories from Clomid after 3 years of infertility

dd is 16, finally conceived on meds after 2 miscarriages on clomid (100 mcg)

then ds is 12, conceived on first cycle of clomid (100 mcg)

it worked for me, but you have to be very, very patient

which is totally the hardest part

Oooh, tamoxifen, I want to know more about that one! How did you take it? Was it just like clomid? What about all the hot flashes etc? Sorry for all the questions!

Nothing to add, but just wanted to wish you luck. I had 9 cycles of Clomid so know how stressful it is. It's easy for me to say now but try to do something relaxing for yourself and I hope you get a BFP soon

X post. The name rings a bell, but I honestly can't remember. It was a long time ago. I had blood tests and my 'counts' were all out as well. It was a stressful time to be honest. I had scans which revealed both ovaries were affected. Are you ovulating every other month rather than every month?

I had to stop taking it because it turned me into the bitch from hell. Metformin helped to calm down PCOS symptoms but having a crushed tube hugely reduced the chances of and ovulation stimulaters (sp?) working. In the end moving to France worked Confused. I fell pg naturally during the move.

It's shit but people do get there. Good luck Smile

I took Clomid after 4 years of trying. I had a 9 month run and like you, in the beginning it was hit and miss as to whether I ovulated or not. In the end, I conceived my daughter on my very last cycle (we had decided to take a break/give up!).

I know its hard and there were times when I just wanted to run away, it certainly takes all the fun out of things! Keep going, it DOES work and you just have to give it time. I know that reading that will make you want to scream at the screen, I've been there too!

A word of warning, my son arrived rather unexpectedly 4 years later after a drunken evening of fun. He was a bit of a surprise and my GP nodded wisely and said "Clomid does that you know, re-sets the system" - thanks for that, we were going to stick at 1!!

Space I'm not really sure when I'm oving to be honest. Didn't ov regularly for years, the only time I've ever had a positive progesterone or seen the collapse on the scan is that 2nd cycle on clomid. I've got the cysts on both the ovaries.

Run Thank you for that, if all else fails I'll book Eurostar tickets then :)

I have PCOS and had been trying for number 2 for over 18months. I was put on metformin in October as I was too fat for clomid! At that point my BMI was 36 and it needed to be under 35 for clomid. I lost some weight and went back to clinic in Jan and BMI was down to 32 so I was eligible for clomid. Was prescribed 6 months and had an appt for July. Started first month of clomid (50mg) and had blood test day 21 which showed I hadn't ovulated. I was using CBFM as well and I got peak on day 21/22 and bloods on day 29 which showed I had ovulated, as it was a late ov I was told to expect my period that week. It didn't arrive and I am currently 25 weeks pregnant, so for me it was a success!

run how bizarre, I fell pregnant once we had moved to Spain!
Need move abroad now Grin but on a serious note, you sound the same as me. Keep going with the Clomid for as long as your Doctor prescribes it though. If you don't fall pregnant on it, it may 'kick start' you if you know what I mean?... I think after Clomid we were offered IUI has that been mentioned to you yet?

I didn't think I was, but then the thread got moved to Conception. Thanks for your clomid success story AF

izzy I tried the CBFM but it gave me manic results all over the place so I sold it on ebay. I know they go on a lot about BMI and PCOS but I have a friend who is size 28 and she has four children and my BMI is 25 so I don't think that should affect the clomid. Really really hope this is my month, lovely to hear about your pregnancy! How exciting for you. I know if I ever get a bfp I will be so indescribably thrilled!
