BFP at weekend, but still only getting faint line 4 days later

I suppose I'm looking for some reassurance. I POAS Sat and Sun with FMU and got a faint BFP both times, with Sunday's result appearing more quickly than Saturday's. I POAS again today expecting to see a darker line, appearing more quickly and got pretty much the same result as on Sunday (faint line, took 2 min to appear). I estimate that I'm 4.5 to 5 weeks pregnant based on when I think I ovulated.

Just been to dr today and had blood taken to measure HCG concentration, but wondered if anyone had any advice while I await the results?

I am a bit worried because I've had 2 MMC (one quite recently, but the dr did not think it was likely that the HCG detected by my HPT would be from that because I had an ERPC 7 wk ago). My first MMC was in 2008 and I've also got a healthy DD, aged 20 months.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Congratulations on your BFP!

My (albeit limited) understanding of HPTs is that they are a qualitative, not quantitative test (apart from the CB digis) so they tell you if you they have detected HCG, but do not accurately how much, especially early on in a pregnancy.

You've done the right thing by getting bloods done though as they are quantitative and much more reliable than HPTs.

I hope you get your good news back from the Drs soon

Oh thank you pixie - I assumed they were quantitative as I'd seen some pictures on t'internet of the 'progression' of a faint line to a stronger line. On the box, it does show a faint line as a positive result. Hopefully my blood results will be sky high!

When do you get the results back? Will keep everything crossed for big numbers for you Smile

Should get results on Friday and I can keep you posted. Dr has also booked me in for repeat blood test next Wed to make sure HCG levels are increasing. She is very kind and has also agreed to an 8 wk scan (assuming levels are increasing!).

Thanks!

Oh that's great that your Dr is so supportive. Am sending towering HCG thoughts your way x

Hey GenericDietCola, why don't you try a digital test? I don't think enough hormones would be left over from 7 weeks ago, to produce any kind of line.

Good luck x

Thank you Catface I am thinking about doing a digital test. I should get the blood results on Friday, but I suppose I could do a digi in the meantime to (hopefully) reassure me.

Ooooh, Catface makes a good point - there's plenty of POAS time between now and Friday! Smile

Well I do still have the 2nd one out of my two-pack of cheapo Superdrug ones, so I will defo be using that before on Friday. Maybe a digi as well? They're expensive though aren't they? I've never bought one before.

I think they are around £10ish ...

DEF do the cheapy one! FWIW, if it's a superdrug own brand one, I did one the day after an HCG trigger shot (just to see what a BFP looked like!) and mine was super faint despite the fact I must have had a million tons of HCG shooting around my system!

Oh wow that has given me hope, pixie, thanks (I used a superdrug own brand one too)! So are you receiving fertility treatment? I hope things are going well for you on your journey.

Hi cola after two days of very faint BFPs on internet cheapies I've just popped out to buy a digi - Boots were £9 for a single Clearblue digi, or £11 for a 2-pack (on offer). Your results sound promising! Congratulations

Congrats pixie too!

Now, does anyone have any tips to stop me going out of my tiny mind before a nice, fat dark BFP turns up? I am unable to think about anything else....

OutIntoTheBlue have you used your digi yet? How many dpo are you? If you're already having faint lines on cheapies, surely it's worth testing with a digi

Hey cola I know what you mean - I can dish out the advice, not so good at taking it Wink

No, I'm saving the digis til Friday. But I did also buy a 2-pack of Superdrug ones and they came up with a definite line. A pale line, but really easy to see. Eeeeepppp! I think I'm about 14dpo, so wold be happier if I could see a dirty great big line rather than a wee faint one. But I take pixie 's point about it being qualitative so trying not to stress about that.

It was 4 years ago today I got my BFP with my gorgeous 3year old girl, hoping thats a good omen!

Will you have to wait til Friday to get your blood results?

I am 12dpo today but my tests are extremely faint too, sainsburys and a predictor. I know how you feel MC in feb and i have been trying for years i can only hope they get darker!

Oh it's nice to know that others have similar freak outs over the pale lines! On the box of the Superdrug test, there is a picture of a pale pink line with the caption 'Pregnant' so the faint line is still a BFP so I'm trying to stay positive (ha ha!).

Yes, will get blood results on Friday, so I'll know more then.

Blue that's nice that you got your BFP on the anniversary of getting a BFP for your DD. Should be a good sign!

Any symptoms any of you? I've got the strong sense of smell and sensitive boobs, which I think it a good sign too.

Aw no, that's terrible olismum. Perhaps it's still too early though if you are only 13 dpo? What kind of test did you use? You should trust your body though, you know you've got the right signs there.

I hope you get your BFP very soon.

Outintotheblue - any news? Did you do your digi test today? Hope it was a nice BFP.

I did another Superdrug cheapie this morning and got another faint positive. Due to get blood test results later today. I am a bit worried that I am just still producing hormone from my MC.

Olismum hope you feel a bit better today.

Don't know if anyone is still following this, but just in case...

I got my blood results back and hCG is positive, but low, so I have to have a repeat test next week. It's not looking good. Could be another MC, although I haven't bled yet. Dr does not think it is hormone from my previous MC.

Still waiting (and quite fed up).
