Emergency GP appointment or A&E??? Pic included

Phoned GP and they said if he has no temp or other significant symptoms, he should come in this afternoon (appointment at 4pm) but I'm beginning to worry more and more and think A&E would be the best bet??? My son is 11 btw

I would take him to a&e but that's because I've never seen a rash like that. Hope he's ok.

Does it blanch? I'd go to a&e with my kids with that, if there's an absence of any cause of the rash

I agree, A&E, because the rash to me looks under the skin rather than outside.

I think I'd wait until the gp appointment because I think that might get you through the system faster. I wouldn't blame you for a&e though.

I only asked because like someone said the GP/clinic would be quicker as it is ooh appointment only, as waiting in A&E is very long.

Does your son have aching joints? Swollen ankles etc? If so, this looks like HSP (henoch scholein purpura). My daughter had this, it can cause other complications so I would go to A&E.

If he has no fever and is otherwise well, keep the GP appointment.
Take a urine sample in when you go.

You'll get seen quicker and the GP can refer you straight to paeds, rather than hanging around A+E for hours.

I agree, could well be HSP but nobody here can diagnose him.

Does he have any symptoms? Has the rash worsened in the last hour? If no, I think I'd be inclined to wait for doctors. If they want him seen at hospital they will phone ahead and get him in the system. If yes, then take him to a&e. That being said I also believe in instinctS.

I would go to A&E, and if I was still waiting when it's time for the GP appointment I'd go to the appointment.

Assuming the two places are not two hours in opposite directions ....

Actually sandboys idea sounds like a great one. That's what often happens in reverse at local a and e triage. They tell people it's a gp issue and they ring OOh from outside and get an appointment the next floor up!
