What's his/her favourite book(s)?

Needing inspiration as just realised we haven't bought any books for DD in ages, and neither have we been to the library

There are a number of little libraries, so to speak, of Peppa Pig, Thomas, ITNG, etc. 5 or 6 little books in a case DS loves the concept of these and will "read" them himself as well as enjoying having them read to him.

All the Gruffalo books are loved and Paddington is very popular.

I took dd to the library this week and "baa, moo, what shall we do?" has been a huge hit. We have a 6 year old so have a lot of books at this stage (they seem to stay at this stage for a LONG time IMO) but this one was new for us. She also loves hungry caterpillar, each peach pear plum and is getting into Julia Donaldson ones - read her Gruffalo for the first time I can remember today. Owl Babies was a bit hit for a long time as was Little Baa. She's just (at nearly 3)sitting better for longer stories which is nice.

The very hungry caterpillar, If you get the big book it comes with a toy caterpillar that you can push through the fruit,

Cute but takes ages to read it

We were at the library this morning and there were just masses of lovely things - go and indulge!

Our favourites were always illustration-led, so John Burningham, Shirley Hughes, Satoshi Kitamura, the Ahlbergs.

My 2 year old has an obsession with nursery rhymes just now so we have a few books on those.

We're going on a bear hunt is also popular. Other than that anything Fireman Sam is always good

The books with magnadoodle at the top are on sale in Asda just now

He also went through a phase of loving Kipper the dog (after we borrowed a DVD from the library)
Recently borrowed Fix-it duck which he thought was hilarious, lovely pictures to talk about, rhyming and funny!

I remember a little girl I used to babysit for loving Hairy McClary from Donaldson's Dairy, but haven't seen it for years

My favourite book when I was little is The kitten who couldn't get down, which has the repeated line "Don't go up if you can't get down." I cried the first time I heard my Dad read it to DS

Oooo, thanks everyone.
Feel a bit reassured as we have a lot of these books already.
Might just go and buy some of the titles that keep cropping up, but we don't already have, like OWL BABIES and THE TIGER WHO CAME TO TEA

DD's a bit under the weather at the moment, so she'll enjoy a few new books

ds's fave is Richard Scarry's ABC Word Book. Every night he picks a letter from the alphabet at the front (no he doesn't know them, he just points) and we read that page. Over. And over. and over.
