Childbirth

So, how true is that business about second babies coming earlier than first babies (especially if the first was early)?

Is it just nonsense, or can I reasonably hope that the baby will be here pretty soon?

DD was born at 39+2 and I'm now 38+3 with DC2, for the record I'm still more curious than desperate...

Well it was true from me - DS1 was 20 days late and DS2 was 4 days early.

FOR me.

dd1 - 4 days early
ds - 10 days early
dd2 - 3 weeks early but she was an induced labour - though it didn't take very much to get it going.

I had my first at 35 weeks...second at 42 weeks so not true in my case

True for me too

DS1 born on due date

DS2 born 39+1

Wasn't true for me. DD1 was a few days early and dd2 a week late. Felt like longer though because I convinced myself that because dd1 was early then dd2 would be too.

DS1 39 weeks.

DS2 37 weeks.

Currently 31 weeks pregnant with dc3 and very much hoping to get to 39 weeks.

Hmmm, thanks all - no general consensus then. I should have known shouldn't I?

With DD I'd convinced myself she'd be at least a week late and even totally failed to believe I was in labour for ages. Maybe I'm looking at the total opposite experience this time...

It's nonsense as far as I'm concerned- each of mine was later than the previous. (10, 11 and 13 days "overdue")

Report
elliepac · 29/05/2009 13:13

Sorry to not be able to give a consensus but both mine were induced at 40+10!

Report
twinklegreen · 29/05/2009 14:06

My first came at 40+3
My second came at 40+14.
Came as a bit of a shock, as I was thinking number 2 would be earlier. At least number three can't get any later!

DD 38+4

2 DDs 42 weeks (no.3 currently 41+2, induction booked for 42, no signs of baby being born before then. Don't want induction so may be 42+!!!!)

norktasticninja · 29/05/2009 18:41

A highly scientific sample but it sounds like I should be preparing myself to go well and truly "overdue". Ho hum.
