Im after plain knee length strappy nightie for labour. Ive tried buying normal cheap ones from M&S but too tight across bump and going to big and my boobs are hanging out as going up in normal size just too big.

There are some on mothercare but these are too long, ive been told they are knee length to calf depending on your height and im only short!

Can anyone help? I dont want to wear a tshirt as to get it to fit over bump im covered up in tshirt from ankles to wrists and i got far too hot last time. Oh and no i wont go naked!

if you really dont want sleeves then you may have to buy the maternity ones that are more generous round the tum. jojomamambebe does them.

im thinking that you would be able to get just the thing at our market! old-fashioned nighties with litttle frily straps but quite high at the front! not one to keep after though!!!

Big t-shirt, and cut the sleeves off to the right shape and size for you?

I got given a big floral nightie in hospital even though I'd packed one. Glad not to ruin mine actually! Perhaps your hospital provides them?

TBH I bet you don't care whether you're naked or not when push comes to shove (so to speak )

Pricey but very wearable way after giving birth. Wear mine six years later still. Beautifully soft. Is very flattering when both pregnant and afterwards, great for breastfeeding, can swan around the house in it all day after having baby and still feel like you've made an effort. Love it!

I just stole one of DH's massive corporate wear T-shirts that he was happy for me to sling out afterwards. It was cotton with very short sleeves but was lovely and baggy.

i wore giant xxl size mens vests. primark and m&s do nice cheap ones that are quite long. keep you cool and just have a nursing bra undernear if it's a bit saggy at the boobs.

if your small they will reach your thighs easily. i'm tall and they just covered my bum.

I had an enormous T shirt, dark enough to not show the stains, and a soft crop-top style bra as I can't go bra-less (too big) but wanted something comfy. They will be called back into service this time too. The bra top is made of some artifical fibre that dries really quickly, so that if I make it into the birthing pool but get fed up, I won't be soggy for the rest of the event.

my first labour was so quick that when i got to the hosp i was 8-9cm and all they had time for was to take off trousers and pants and i gave birth in a top and my bra that i walked in the hospital in! Because of how things went and was out v quick i ended up leaving in the same outfit! obv clean pants! But still! this time i want to put it on before i leave the house!

I just bought a cheap XL nightie from QS or somewhere. I never saw it again afterwards....

Hi everyone, I'm new here. I went into hospital with knee length nightie packed into my hospital bag, but didn't get chance to put it on, because birth was over within 43 minutes of arriving at hospital, so left my top on that I arrived in.

I got a 2 pack of the most hideous nighties from mothercare - one black and one white - with the intention to give birth in one and wear the other one afterwards. The one I gave birth in was so comfy and did the job but was put straight in the incineration bin as soon as that baby was put on my chest!!!! I'm 5'7" and it was short on me, so would prob be perfect for you. I think I have since put the other one in the bin too as they really are the most unflattering things I have ever encountered
