ChaCha · 18/07/2008 13:06

Emergency section with DS1 - 41+ (7lbs 10)

Elective section with DS2 - 39+4 (7lbs 12)

Elective section with DC3 - was 39+1 but due to severe SPD etc.. consultant has kindly agreed to 38+5.
Very relieved but just worrying weight will be low.

Does this few days make a big difference?
Sorry and TIA.

DD - elective section at 38 weeks due to severe SPD and other problems. I was warned that they may have to clear her lungs before she could breath, due to gestation, but she came out objecting loudly.

DD elective section 39+1 - 7lbs 5 and no problems.

I don't know if a few days makes a difference but I read on another thread that 'term' is classed as between 37 and 42 weeks.

Good luck.

DS1 emergency section 40 8lb 7oz
ds2 planned section 38+1 9lb 6oz

I had given up on hopes of a third child due to fear of another c section. To those who had three - Was the recovery any better worse and did third pregnancies go well? (sorry to ask this on someone elses thread)

DD2 was born at 38+1 (not via cs though) and weighed 6lb 6oz.

I was told at the time that they class anything over 38 weeks as being term

Emergency with DS at 37 weeks after going into labour naturally, 7lb 2. Perfectly fine.

Currently supposed to be getting planned cs at 39 weeks this time. But will pester consultant to bring it forward by a few days if possible. Rather planned cs than semi emergency IMO. Not convinced I will last to 39 weeks.

Can't remember if I had a spinal or epidural.

Emergency section at 42+2 after failed induction. Epidural.

Originally planned a home birth.

DD1 elective section (breech) at 38 weeks - 7lb 7oz. Baby refused to feed for 6 days after the birth

DD2 emergency section after failed induction at 38 weeks and 2 days - 9lb 15oz!!! No problems

DD3 elective section at 37 weeks and 5 days - 7lb 9oz and baby wouldn't feed for over 10 days this time.

Elective sections were under spinal and emergency section under epidural. Didn't notice a difference between the 2 tbh.

7lb 12oz 41+5 No breathing problems even though in distress during labour.

Your 38+5 is going to be a term weight so think it will be ok.

dd1 was emergency section after 26 hours labour. Birth weight 8lbs 13ozs

dd2 planned at 39 weeks, but ended up having an emergency at 36 weeks.. birth weight 6lbs. If I had gone full term with her she would probably have been closer to 9lbs ouch
