in the main I think they're lovely shots

BUT I had a markedly different reaction to the pictures of breastfeeding babies to the one or 2 of breastfeeding obvious toddlers, I didn't think they were lovely at all

Oh come on mud please can't we keep the extended breastfeeding good or bad thing out of this?

For the record, though, I still think these pictures are lovely because they show tenderness and love between mother and child.

And the one with the rather large child proves how you can breastfeed even an older child in public without a breast in sight.

emkana - you said 'what do you think?', sorry I didn't realise that actually meant 'if you think exactly the same as I do then please post', my fault I thought this was a discussion board

Lovely pictures. I am pleased to see older children being breastfed as well.

Mud, can I ask what you thought, if not lovely? Were you horrified/revolted/disgusted? Without wishing to put words in your mouth, you understand

I think I felt that the mother simply didn't want to let go of breastfeeding and true babyhood abd I find that sad because a child of that age if thirsty can drink water from a cup

I have this conversation or discussion all the time here, I know that there are a number of very vocal extended breastfeeders, so much so that people like me who supposedly represent the majority view don't even post on this topic so it becomes a 'aren't you fabulous darling, no darling you are fabulous' onesided converastion rhather than a true discussion.

I also find it funny that for most people out there Iam and have always been an extended breastfeeder as I fed all of mine until they could take cow's milk at around a year old. I have no issues with anyone's choice but I am allowed to think what I think and I think breastfeeding a huge child is unecessary

Err mud, you dont represent the majority. The average age for weaning is four years old.......

I dont think I could have a discussion with someone who held such a view of me anyway to be honest.

Worldwide.

It takes into account countries like here where so many parents only feed for a short time and also mums who breastfeed past 4.
