Hi
I am having a C section baby girl on wed and still have not decided on a name. Our ideas are:

Alice
Elizabeth
Madeliene
Mia
Sophie

But we are open to other ideas as we are not set on any of them.

Is Alice a bit boring and old fashioned?

Thought if went with Elizabeth could shorten it to 'libby'.

Like Madeliene but worry about the Madeliene McCann link.

Not sure on Mia as never know wether to say it as mea or mya - if that makes sense.

Like Sophie but worried it is very popular - noticed there are 2 Sophie's in my son tumble tots class. Also partner and his ex had a dog called Sophie! - Not sure if I should let this put me off.

Really appreciate ideas and thoughts.

We did like Molly and Milly but realised don't go with surname which is a McEwan.

Thanks
jo

Alice is old fashioned but also a classic and very pretty.

Elizabeth I always feel is a bit formal but I think Libby if fun and I do quite like names you can shortern or lengthen.

Madeliene always sounds a bit posh to me and she'd definitely end up being Maddie which may or may not annoy you.

Mia is nice and a little different.

And Sophie is a beautiful name but if you like it and aren't sure, go 'exotic' and maybe call her Sophia?

And I don't know whether Milly or Molly wouldn't go (plus remember unless it's bully worthy it won't worry her and when she gets married it'll change anyway)!!

Good luck!

I like Alice, Sophie and Elizabeth. All are classic and lovely. If they are popular it is for a reason.

Isn't Madeliene spelled Madeleine?

Mia is also pretty popular, BTW.

LOL - thanks for your thoughts. We just thought Molly McEuan sounds too like Molly Malone!

I agree with you that M M doesn't sound great.

I thought it was spelled Madeleine?

Anyway, I really love Alice and it would be my third DD's name, if I have one!

Elizabeth is lovely and classic and adaptable as juggling said (many times ).

Mia and Sophie are inoffensive, but a bit dull.

Mia Sophie and Madeleine very popular where I am (also hate Maddy)

Thanks
Not keen on Alison at all - don't think it sounds very girly.

Alice is beautiful & goes well with your surname.

As do Molly & Milly imo.

Madeleine will always be associated with Madeleine McCann, sadly.

Fair enough
Sophia? not as popular as Sophie but very pretty imo

all nice, but sophie/sophia is most popular where i live - there are at least 2-3 girls with this name in each playground we go to around here and there were 2 in my son's nursery class. if that's not an issue go for it.

M M is fine in my view also.

I like Mia the best or Elizabeth (Lizzy) as I think this would sound great with your surname.

I love Alice and Elizabeth.

Madeleine is fine.

IMO Sophie is a bit ordinary, and Mia is a bit "now" (it also means "mine" as in "It's mine, not yours" in Spanish which puts me off a bit).

Thanks for all the replies. I think we are going to go for Alice Rose. But of course that may all change when we see her!
